well im sorry that the code reader at school wouldnt work. and the egr was disconnected.

it does need an O2 sensor... you think that could be a possible culprit Tom?

Doubt it's a O2 prob... I've run them disconnected without a prob(You may try that just for troubleshooting)...

IF the ignition is good, it may just need the injectors cleaned... Seemed to be a common problem with the SO in the '86 Grand Marquis...

ill try that then... the screens are prolly clogged or somthing.

See one of the very few actual problematic tech threads i need some help on and i get flack because i didnt do somthing up to par or am still learning how to do some things. I dont know everything. And I dont claim to. i get some shiznit.

well i havent had a chance to look at it... but i drove it today because the cat decided it needed a rest. i noticed it only does its little bucking thing when it gets up to operating temp.

It's all good br0......fordfuelinjection.com find the codes section. NOT hard at all, I've done it...you almost feel kinda silly sittin there but make sure it's quiet wherever you are, you basically ground out a pin on this big grey plug near your windsheild wiper motor. And then turn the key to accessory mode and ur check engine light starts blinkin.....and ya count em :D. Not as quick as a reader but I got a good bit of mileage out of it when I was troubleshooting getting the H.O. running.

Ignition stuff? Maybe the TFI module? I don't know a HELL of a lot about em but aren't they supposed to go bad a lot on these cars?

And yeah x2 on the vac lines...esp whats going to the MAP sensor and all that. Make sure theyre getting a good "signal" I guess lol and that nothin leaks.

well... that'd be easier if i had a check engine light too lol.

Yeah i cant go through it quite yet because... i you know... have to drive it because the cougar is having those "I dont wanna" fits.

TFI new. Coil New. Cap Rotor plugs and wires New. I dont know alot about troubleshooting but im gonna try my est to get it to stop what its doing.

Hell, lastnight after work it went through all 5 gears nicely, No probs at all till I stopped at the gas station and put some money in its tank. started it back up and blah there it goes being a pain in 4th and 5th.

When was the last time you replaced the fuel filter?

How is the fuel pressure?

I changed the fuel filter the summer of 06 I believe, right before I rebuilt my motor.

I put a new fuel pump in last winter around the beginning of January.

I get about 40-41PSI but im gonna check that again today... Whatchoo got a lean on Chuck? Im gonna look into everything I possibly can.. If you have some ideas, lemme know.

sounds like a slight misfire to me. whered you buy yout tune up parts from? are they cheepo's or good ones? try taking the cap off, see if anything is odd with the rotor or if theres carbon built up inside the cap. if not, take every wire off, one by one, and look down it looking for really slight tears in insulation or darker spots where the spark is jumping through. it doesnt take much it may just be a little dot you'll find where its jumping. lastly if that doesnt work, check all the plugs for carbon or signs of carbon tracking.

if it was there before, and its there not, it doesnt sound like its a trans problem. and i know checking all that can be tedious, but your running out of stuff to test for.

Just curious on the fuel situation that's all.

Have you checked the fp while driving to see if the chugging jives with a fuel delivery issue?
