Smog pump Reply #2 – June 23, 2006, 11:31:20 AM in the general section i have a DIY write up that continues to grow. You have to select the options on the lower right to make threads in the past year show up.in my write up, its details how to handle the smog and the vac lines and the belt. Its a step by step with other goodies as well. Quote Selected
Smog pump Reply #3 – June 23, 2006, 09:27:03 PM Why are you removing it???It has been dyno proven woth only 1hp,not worth the 30.00 belt really. Quote Selected
Smog pump Reply #4 – June 23, 2006, 09:36:45 PM I removed mine because I was replacing the belt anyway, when I put my new alternator in. See here for details. Quote Selected

That's a heavy little too...didn't weigh it, but I would think it was at least 15lbs...makes header installs easier also. Quote Selected
Smog pump Reply #6 – June 23, 2006, 11:38:31 PM Im removing it mostly because it looks like , i just dont think that it will look good with aluminum heads and the other new goodies i have picked up for the bird. Most of the stuff wont being going on untill this winter when i can afford the SDS engine management system to accept the changes in the engine. But because it will be getting headers and exhaust after the upcoming long weekend i might as well have that eyesore and everything that goes with it takin out while i'm at it. Just purely cosmetic! Smog pump Reply #7 – June 24, 2006, 03:15:49 PM Well i quess to each his own put,if it works i'd leave it.Do you have smog police in your area???Heavy fine if they notice it missing.Removing all the e-gear that goes with it doesn't do much for hp and will be a pain to remove it all and cap off all of the holes left behind. Also you'll burn out your cats quicker due to not having fresh air introduced by the pump.Up to you though, buddy of mine did it all once and regretted it. I don't understand the reason for buying an SDS engine management system when all you really need is a MAF conversion...and maybe a dynotune...depending on how aggressive you're going to get with it...save yourself the money. Smog pump Reply #9 – June 24, 2006, 03:28:22 PM We have NO smog police in Alberta, therefore no cats,no fines to be given, etc, etc. And once again this is purely cosmetic, i think the car will have lots of power with the mods that i am doing so removing the smog equiptment to give me power had NOTHING to do with my choice of removing it all, but thanks! Smog pump Reply #10 – June 24, 2006, 03:39:04 PM The SDS system i am purchacing is well worth every penny, they are here in Calgary where i live and I have had the pleasure of seeing it in action on good buddies Mustang. SDS is a much better unit than a MAF setup anyday. Read up on it and you will see why i am choosing to go this route(http://www.wmsracing.com) The only thing stopping me from buying it right now is the wife! She feels the $3500 beans ive spent in the last few months on goodies is enough untill christmas time...Dont want to pi$$ her off as she seems to be OK with this project so far and i would like to keep it that way.
