in the cobalt, it have the windows up when doing 80 on the highway, but as soon as I slow down the windows are down, even when it's pretty hot out, the a/c is on, but windows are down when not on the highway. Just like the fresh air. Hell even on the highway it is normally cracked and the air isn't on, just the fan blowing.

i answered windows down, cause when "cruising" it is always windows down, enjoying the drive.

windows that roll down are for cooches

I don't understand that logic. We all know that the ability to roll down your windows in the springtime is a rite of passage, the transition between cold weather and allergy season. ;)

It really all depends on where you live. Those in the South absolutely need working a/c. Those in the North and in Canada can usually survive without it, but it's nice to have it working. I honestly cannot figure out why our cars have the uncanny ability to lose freon in the blink of an eye. It's extremely rare to buy a Fox Cougar with working a/c and if you do, it's because someone already went through the headache (and expense) of having it fixed. I don't want to say it's a junk system...but sheesh, 30-year-old GM beaters have better working systems than we do. In a lot of ways, it's not our fault that we have sub-par systems but we do have to deal with them at some point if we want them to work. And honestly, some people would sink more money into getting the a/c system fixed than they paid for the car!

I've lived with not having working a/c in a Fox car for many years. Maybe 15 or so. I survived. When I had the T-Bird, my cousin converted it over to R-134 for me. That lasted a few years, then it leaked out, and I got lazy and never had it recharged. That car had the flaky ATC system, though, and it just didn't work the way it should have. The a/c in the Mountaineer works great though.  it is nice to have a daily driver with working a/c! I found out this past weekend on a road trip just how much I really missed having it. So yeah...now that it's back, I will definitely dedicate myself to keeping it working.

It all boils down to, do you need it, or can you live without it? If you want it, or need it, spend the money and get it done the right way. Otherwise, it's 260 air.

(BTW...there's nothing that says 'summertime' better to me than to see a hot chick driving with the windows up, a/c CRANKED, and her hair blowing around as if the windows were down). ;)

Purchased car in October of '02:  $1,400

Had A/C repaired in September of '05: $1,200

So, naturally, I want to get my money's worth out of the A/C system.  I use it quite often.

My ranger has AC neither car has. My 90 I just bought was converted to R134 but I have since taken everything out minus the compressor so I dont have to worry about a belt yet. But going to get one today lol.

I have no choice in the matter. Both power window motors are dead on the Mark, and the truck's A/C doesn't work. Fortunately it (the truck) has the extra vent windows, the rear sliding window, and an extra vent down by the high beam switch on the floor.

I can see some people using it, like people in arizona. But hell, windows that roll down are for cooches. Right now I have two electric window doors on a car that came with hand rollers. And it gets to 95 or so recentally. Then again I also wear a trench coat all day every day but yeah.

Wow, just a rebel all over the place huh?
Why those silly laws about windows working, seatbelts and oh yeah...having the correct plates on the correct vehicle! Yep, those must be for all the wimps out there who like to obey the law.

Dude, if you haven't got the money to plate your car, then why the hell are you driving it?  Oh, let me guess, you don't have insurance on it either?
, I hope you don't end up in a wreck....the person you hit will be all kinds of lucky huh? dumbass!

111 yesterday....windows up, A/C blasting!

Two years ago I drove my Mark down to Arizona never used the A/C the entire time I was their. Everyone was looking at me like I was an alien. But 100* down their is nothing compared to 90* and 75% humidity here.

Of course it would have benn the Il plates on the car and no tinted windows too.

Hey I'm in Arizona right now :) It's nice out!  104 today ;)

Actually it's kinda like that nice dry heat you get when you open the over door?  Except it's not nearly as intense.  For some reason my A/C doesn't work on the cutlass, so 4x80 is my a/c system.

I took the A/C out of the Demon a couple of years ago.  When I first got the car it had no R-12 in the system due to a bad seal.  I never used it anyway so I yanked the system out.  I don't mind no A/C but, the wife absolutely hates no A/C anytime it's above 85 or so.

For me it's really more of a style vs. substance issue. While I love that wind blown feeling on a sunny day, I am cursed with thin, fine hair and not much of it. So unless I'm going home or don't care how I look, it's gotta be cruisin' with the A/C. I would love the just blown feelin' if it wasn't so messy! ;)

Windows down and the heater up, the P-dot way :hick: as soon as it pops above freezing everyone drops their windows lol

I do that in the winter here sometimes, you get some strange looks. I always have my windows down. I think it comes from never having a vehicle with working AC. Hell my ranger dont even have AC, and the Blazers is gonna get removed since the compressor ped out when I went to see if it worked.

I've never really had a strong desire for the AC to work in any of my cars. I prefer having the windows down in the summer.
Hell, my '96 has perfect AC and I rarely use it. I'll run it once a week or so to keep everything in working order.
