Anti-Moans???

I am using 96 Mustang rear brakes and axles. From what I read on coolcats they don't interchange... i would of verified this but I have no patience to do so at the moment, as I still have the front to deal with.

The MK VII rotors are bigger than the TC rotors, so you can't use them with TC brakes.:D

Ah, gotcha. So that's why you had enough length to install the eliminators. Normally C-clip eliminators and rear disc brakes are a big no-no to do in a stock configuration. Aftermarket parts make all the difference though.

Man, I was getting a little nervous there thinking what the heck did I put together?:hick:  LOL. Only reason I went with elims was to be drag legal for 9 second passes. I know the rotor will keep the axle from coming out in the event of failure, but didn't think that would be sufficient for NHRA specs.

finally got them brackets off. now if my bearing puller would show up i can button up my rear end. if i had to do it all over again i will just mount the stang caliper bracket and drill into the TC bracket to cover the offset.

The 84-90 MArk VII Rotors are bigger, they are 11.3 or so in for 91 and 92 they changed the size to 10.5 with a similar hat design as the Turbo coupe rotor, only 5 lugs. The reason i was asking is because the rotors for the Cobra R have a 91 lincoln part number.

93 Cobra and 93 Cobra R are toatlly different animals brakewise.

The "std" Cobra used the TC stuff in the rear, including the axles (ths the odd offset on 93 Cobra wheels) and are 4-lug.  The fronts were std GT (11" Fox) with a different rotor. The "hat" was taller...

The Cobra R used what was to become the Cobra brake package on the SN-95's.

Nope, the 93 cobra R used the SAME calipers and brackets as the standard cobra (or Turbo Coupe). The only differences were the 5 lug rotors and axles. Check out the SVT Cobra Recognition Guide book, in the back they have a list of Cobra R unique part #'s, the only part numbers given for the rear brakes were the rotors (a 91 lincoln part #) and axles.

I didn't think about doing it that way. You can safely turn down the diameter of a rotor? I used mustang calipers but the t/c brackets and had to shim out the caliper the same 3/16 of an inch.  How much of a total track difference over stock is there? On wheel choices, I'm considering 15x9 with a 5.5 backspace (prostars).

yes, It is safe to turn down the diameter. I didnt notice a differance in track width i think most was in the hat depth of the rotor.I would probly go with a 15x10 with a 6.0  i have 15x8 w a 5.5 and there way in the wheel well. My slicks were mounted on a set of 15x8 with 4.5 rear spacing and filled the well good.

Good grief, 15x10 with 6.0...... I would like to run a 28x10.5 slick. Would that size with that wheel keep from rubbing the inner wheel well and fender lip(rolled of course)?

I dont think it would be an issue. I ran a 17x10.5 on the rear of mine for a while. If i get a chance today i will mesure from inside the tire to wheel well.
