The distrubutor is not even going to work with the EFI on your car....dump that from your list.

You don't need to spend $400+ on a TB and adapter....You can find a used one and adapt it for much less than that.

You don't "need" that header....There are other more cost effective options...see the 40bob site.

The head is ok and sure you can spend the cash on the hybrid turbo.

It's also going to take more than throwing parts at it to get power out of it.  You will have to get a good tune on it, which you can't do w/o at least some sort of piggy-back or flashable ECU mod.

The injectors/fuel system will not be up to the task of 350 hp.

Personally I don't think a 16 yr old just getting a license needs 350+ hp....but that's just me.

i 2nd that. learn too drive the car first. turbo coupes require more attention too realy get them too work well. its not like driving a mustang. it takes practice too drive them well. they have more than enough power too be fun, and are finicky enough too win some/lose some soley on driving technique. 350 hp is going too signifigantly multiply that as specially being a 4cyl turbo car. thats a ton of power for a first car and a new license. not too mention its gonna cost you alot more money and will be alot more involved than you think. those mods will help but they arent going too get you there. should be able to burry the sho though. other than that all i can realy say is do some research... my 2c

How is a Thunderbird lighter than a SHO?

Anyway, don't get too attached to that Mustang cuz you'll probably wreck it. If I woulda had anything with any kind of power when I was 16, it definitely wouldn't have lasted very long. As it was I still didn't get a car til I was a senior, it was a '90 2.3L Mustang (with a whole 88 hp) and I still did some really stupid stuff and messed it up a couple times.

spend some cash in a good 3" exhaust with a good ler. grab you a K&N cone filter and a boost contoler and enjoy having the sho for dinner.

just to piss off the 4 banger guys, why not just throw a bigger v-8 in it? like a 460. then 500hp is easy, and it will kill anything on the road as long as its in a straight line. Its kinda cool to watch you speedo go one way and your gas go the other.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Right now dude, id focus on getting a good tune up on it.

Buy some Motorcraft plug wires, which can be had pretty cheaply from RockAuto.com, get some Autolite 764 plug wires, grab a motorcraft cap and rotor, put a new fuel filter in it, run a few tanks of good gas through it (93 octane is a must if you want the car to go fast), use a Motorcraft oil filter (cheap and very effective) and get some good oil in it.

From there, do some basic mods, 3" exhaust with some straight through lers, a K&N cone filter, disconnect your knock sensor, advance the timing a little bit, and turn you boost up to 18psi of boost or so, and your car will suprise you. You never did mention if your car was an automatic or a 5-speed.

Also, never NEVER rely on horsepower numbers when you want to race, there are too many variables, and too many other things to win/lose a race. Horsepower numbers are only there to sell cars.
It's Gumby's fault.

Or put a 3.8 in it and it'll be nice and slow and safe! :flip:

Actually I don't think I would do a 460 swap anyway. For a street car, the extra cubes (and weight) aren't really worth it considering how many parts are available for a 351.
