Re: 1967 here i come.... Reply #4 – September 01, 2005, 11:47:14 PM looks cool :D . I want to get a 67-69 Bird one day to. 460 huh. Shouldn't be to hard to put in there. 68 and 69 Birds had 429 Thunderjets so you should be able to get that 460 in there no problem. A little work and you'll be drivin in style. Quote Selected

Re: 1967 here i come.... Reply #6 – September 02, 2005, 10:41:57 AM What, no Cougar? :eek:Maybe you're trying to break your curse. Nice 'bird, though. I allways thought the '67-69 were the only true muscle car T-birds. Good buy, too. Quote Selected

Re: 1967 here i come.... Reply #9 – September 02, 2005, 02:48:20 PM That Tbird is a little big for a 2.3 turbo! There is a 69 (basically the same with a little different grill trim) in my Tbird club and I have seen one up close. They are about 2-3 feet longer and about 1-2 feet wider than a fox Bird and they weigh around 4,000 lbs. I know that with a 429 and a C6 these Birds would run to 60 in about 9 or so seconds. With a built 460 his car should be much quicker. Oh and just so you know 67 was the last year for Ford FE big blocks in Thunderbirds. They had a 300 hp 390ci standard or a 340 hp 428ci optional. In 68 they switched to the 385 serries 429. From 70-76 the 429 was standard with the 460 optional. Quote Selected

They made it until 1996? (if im right)Quote from: HaystackYeah I still say inline 6Yeah right! :flip: nice try.... My 1st car was a 1982 "Mustang L" (no X) with an inline six... I swear!, NEVER AGAIN! This engine is strong, but suck at acceleration... Maybe i could use an inline 6 on a lawnmower... :giggle: Quote Selected
Re: 1967 here i come.... Reply #14 – September 02, 2005, 08:20:14 PM Here's an idea (put the guns down while you read this): How about a nice late model 7.3 Powerstroke turbodiesel? It would probably fit and would probably produce more power than the factory 390 did. In fact it would probably produce more torque than any Ford car ever produced, and you'd probably do better than 35MPG while you're about it. Get one of those Banks power chips and you'd be smoking the tires all the way to the bank :D And if you REALLY wanna stick it to the government, run home heating oil in it instead of diesel. It's illegal because you're not paying road tax on heating oil, but in the days of buck-and-a-half gas, who cares???If I had a garage I would build something like that - big, bloated, classy, stinky, loud and cheap to run :D Quote Selected
