This is the placement on the core support on my car:

And placement on the hood:

I put them right where the factory bumper stops are. Seemed to be logical and worked out well.

Alright! Just what I needed to see. I was thinking that would be the best route just wasnt sure. Thanks for the input Eric.

And Vinnie, I was thinking matte black scuff plates with chrome pins. Methinks it will look mighty snazzy with the lava red and the rest of the matte black accents.

I don't think there is any reason you can't run the factory latch for the security, and the hood pins for the looks. Just remember to pull the locks in the pins before releasing the factory latch.

I'm running the factory secondary catch (hook) with the locking hood pins.

The way my hood was manufactured, there was a metal reinforcement for the factory hood latch imbedded in the fiberglass.
But I just didn't trust it. Eventually it would have disintegrated the fiberglass around the reinforcement.

Once you move from a stock metal hood, nothing is the same again. You sort of have to find your own way to keep the hood down and secured.
I would never recommend tring to run a factory hood latch with a fiberglass hood. That's asking for trouble.

Considering my battery cutoff switch is under the hood pull 2 pins flip the switch check the oil drop and go. Im going for functionality and looks

They just press and lock. But, I understand you gotta do it the way you vision it. That's what makes building our own cars our own way so much fun........if you can call it fun at times. LOL.

Its a royal pita most of the time but after the hard stuff is done it gets to be real fun. Swapping engines is fun to me. Wiring and sorting out issues is not. I started with a bare canvas and just been adding paint here and there kinda like a puzzle a piece here and a piece there

my factory lock still works, so the basic hood pins work as extra security at speed on mine. I'm with Eric as to the location. I just removed the hood bumpers and installed the pins there. Works good, I just have to remember to pull them before I pop the release, otherwise it isn't going anywhere.
