Hood pins? January 03, 2013, 05:03:54 PM A nybody have their hoods pinned on? I've been back and fourth on this for a little while now, but my issue is I don't know exactly where/how I should place them. Hairpin or torsion pin style my hood release cable broke ages ago and I had a fix for that at the time but that was before I went with the TC front clip on my car.Anybody have any pictures or imput on this? And if you do have pictures, post them up anyway just to give me an idear of what I'm shooting for. Core support, hood all that jazzThanks! Quote Selected
Hood pins? Reply #1 – January 03, 2013, 08:54:12 PM With hood pins, you'll have no way to lock your hood if you say your cable is broken. I have pins on my Comet but it is NEVER out of my sight when I take it out.I thought about it on my Cougar....stuck with factory release cable. Quote Selected
Hood pins? Reply #2 – January 03, 2013, 08:58:44 PM I agree, factory cable. Just find a good used one, swap it on. Hood pins, in my own opinion, on these cars, looks WAY out of place. Quote Selected
Hood pins? Reply #3 – January 03, 2013, 08:59:27 PM But if you have to, use some that are better than those cheap flat chrome ones from the parts store. These are cheap, but not bad looking......http://www.ebay.com/itm/MUSTANG-BILLET-ALUMINUM-HOOD-PINS-64-65-66-67-68-69-70-1965-1966-1967-1968-1969-/350663969966?hash=item51a5338cae&item=350663969966&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr Quote Selected
Hood pins? Reply #4 – January 03, 2013, 09:29:02 PM Another point to consider. Wash and chamois car with a scoop and pinned hood and see if you still like the pins. BTDT. Quote Selected
Hood pins? Reply #5 – January 03, 2013, 10:04:40 PM I like the smooth look on the hood. I had thought long and hard about pins for the Sport, and had to back down. They just don't fit......figuratively speaking. Quote Selected

Hood pins? Reply #7 – January 03, 2013, 10:19:10 PM My old Torino convertible had the stock hood locks, which were factory items for 1970, and they were flush on the hood. I thought they are the best looking hood locks ever made. Maybe could adapt to a Thunderbird? Here are a few pics.... Quote Selected

The supports are attached to the frame of the car.....i think i have a pic that shows them..... Quote Selected

Hood pins? Reply #12 – January 04, 2013, 07:52:44 AM Thanks for the imput fellas. I'm gonna get some pins for the car just because it adds that little bit of classic hotrod touch to my car. And that's exactly what I'm going for. Ducktail spoiler, short boss scoop, glossy body color, matte secondary color and accent pieces. And if your worried about losing your goodies under the hood or any jazz like that the little 1/8 locks the tiny padlocks work fine. But my baby will be in my sight 99% of the time or in a locked garage. Just want to give my bird a little vintage and a classic touch. Quote Selected
Hood pins? Reply #13 – January 04, 2013, 08:11:09 AM Then go with the billet hood pins. They have some substance to them, and don't look like those $10 py thin ones. Quote Selected
