I meant at least you have the car in your possession and are able to work on it in your own free time. Once school is all done for me, I hope to get the ball rolling. Of course, I'll need a real job, house, etc before that time comes...but that's why I'm on this site. Pick up tips and other knowledge so that once I'm in the position to rip my beast apart, I'll be able to get moving.

Sorry for the thread hijack...

hey, no problem...I didn't mean for it to sound all bragging and stuff...it's been a long time since I've had the money and time AND motivation to do anything...having all three at the same time is like an eclipse lol.

Just don't give up, patience is also a good thing to have, of which i'm cursed with little to none of.

It's taken me 5 years to just have an HO powered Bird...grass grows faster than I accomplish anything lol, and usually not by choice.

It will all fall into place...just hopefully before I have (more) gray hairs...

Both control arms are on, going to bolt the spindles on in a few, and mount the steering rack back on. Can't get too far as I have to get a spring compressor, as well as some new lug studs and calipers.

But by god it's gettin' there. Pics in a bit.

how do I do it that way? Not sure the car will be heavy enough to "hold it down" as the engine is out... lol

Without an engine, the car will probably lift right up. Do you have access to a spring compressor?

Yeah...it'll probably be this weekend before I have time to work on it again...if even then. We have new carpet getting put in the first of next week, so things will be nuts for a day or so...was hoping to get the T5 worked on a bit before I put the engine back in...but the way things are, I'm gonna need a backup vehicle with room for 2 carseats...all we have right now are 2 trucks, and that sucks ass when we all need to go to town together lol

New ball joints in, depending on the wife's work schedule and how early I need to get up with the kids, I may try to get one side put together tonight after work. Not a huge rush though, have to wait till payday for a new pair of front calipers...if I had bigger wheels, I'd just get the cobra stuff and only have to do it once, but the 5 lug wheels I have are only 16" so it'll be stock (Mustang) brakes for now.

I have to research a bit and see if I'm going to need new bakes hoses for the SN95 calipers...I currently have the 11" TC/Stang 5.0 hoses.

Also have to grab a few lug studs. I may go bolt some stuff up here in a few, stay tuned for a few pics of my snail's progress lol.

How were the ball joints to do? What brand did you use to replace them?

Keep it up, coming along good!

Oh, BTW. The second gear problem sounds serious. You may want to get the box apart now before you trash it. I can't recall the exact nature of the problem, but it sounds familiar.  53 year old memory.

I just used the cheap O'reillys ones...they had grease zerks, so that was good enough for me for now. I think my second gear issues is a synchro...although it might be a bent bearing retainer.

If I can get a chance, I'll take the trans to a shop in the city...the guy has ads all over Craigslist...apparently he's  good at them, and I also have a tip from another guy here on the board about a shop as well.

I never did get the pics, but just imagine some sn95 spindles on fox arms and that's where i'm at lol

So I have the spring in now, but I'm stuck. I have the inside part of the spring compressor stranded inside the  spring. Gonna try to get it out by taking the strut loose from the spindle, and using a jack to lower the control arm enough to finagle the part out...hopefully it works.
A 30 minute job, as always, turns into a 3 day job.

I get this car put back together, I'm probably gonna try to unload it on someone.
