Should be a fun project...  1993 Thunderbird SC...  Wish it had the M5R2, but the AOD will do I guess...

I just set the scoop on for now, it isnt bolted down...

Only issue, (aside from needing a major clean and detail) is it needs a major tune up as it stumbles, and misfires, when you get in the boost.  As you can see in the engine bay shot, it looks like the #5 wire is/was arching out on something...  Going to get new wires and plugs today for it.  engine and tranny were just rebuilt 20kms ago.

I did the plugs last night but waiting on the wires to come in later today...  pretty bad when you have to change plugs from underneath LOL.

I miss my coupe.  Put my Cat and Jetta to shame by the way it handled.
My car is a gravity hybrid.  The gasoline engine gets me up the hills, and gravity gets me down.

Not a bad winter beater at all!  The AOD is definitely easier to drive daily.  I hope it works out for you.  I'd say a better winter beater would be that Dodge Spirit your neighbor has. :)

I found copper plugs worked best. Any platinum plug except the Motocrafts are guna be trouble.  I would also stick to motocraft wires.  I had problems when I kept blowing out the spark (I had a 15% overdrive on mine) until I put the copper plugs in and undergapped them.

P.S. a stubby ratchet makes changing the plugs a load easer and use lots of anti-seize.

There is something weird about your coupe too.  It should have a TEVES hydroboost master cylinder, but clearly someone has swapped it over to conventional vac assist.  I would speculate you no longer have ABS.

I noticed that too. At least looks like it was done right. IMHO I would rather have conventional vac. assist, non - ABS brakes in my Mark over the Teves system. Easier troubleshooting and a lot less problems.

Sweet car too. Those are about the only car I like in the color Red. Nice score.

Agreed, my gf's dodge shadow was basically the same car and was unstoppable through feet of snow with the right tires.

The tires on it are so tiny. I'm surprised at the lack of rust.

I really need to change the plugs in my 89.  Should I be worried about pulling the threads out of the head since I'm sure they havent been out of there since 89 (61000 miles).

PS - these cars DO really respond with mods.  Full exhaust, CAI(you have the same ebay one I got), and a pulley.  Did the pulley tonite and it'll roast the tires from a roll now!

that scoop is horrendous.. i love the 89-90 XR7 wheels though.. if you want a nice aftermarket hood, the mach 1 hoods look great on SC's.. i'm jealous though, i want another 1

93 was the first year for the third gen Teves system. They didn't look like the first and second gen systems were used to.

I couldnt bring myself to use that as a winter beater(of course I am a tad biased toward t birds). Does it have hidden issues? as it looks pretty nice in the pics. I guess I wont feel as bad now if I drive my XR7 all year
