My T-bird is a fatty

So I finally got my 88 T-bird on a scale today. Where my dad works they have a large scale that they use to measure pallet weights that is big enough to fit a car on. I brought my T-bird over today to see how heavy it is. Mind you my car has every option except a sunroof. With nothing in the trunk but the stock mini spare, jack, and tire iron and 3/4 of a tank of gas (my usual race set up) the car weighs 3598lbs. Add me at 153lbs and the race weight comes out to 3751lbs! My T-bird is a fatty:hick:

I'll weigh the Sport next week (Wednesday)and post the results of that in an "as daily driven" state of being.. I can say the Sport has minimal options....Power seat,a/c,no light options......But with all of the changes,it's hard to say what the end results will be...

5 speed
aluminum drive shaft
headers
x-pipe (no cats)
aluminum radiator

BUT,soon,I'll have a power passenger seat,full sound deadener in the whole cabin and the entire trunk except the trunk lid. I'll do a re-weigh after that work.Stay tuned......

Those power seat tracks are friggin' heavy.
I cant decide between dual power or manual (If the luxury outweighs the performance). ;)

1/4 tank, me (140) same trunk contents as you mentioned mine is 3680.
 
The silver car is 3400 even, with NOTHING in the its trunk, same gas and of course same me lol. Thats got no A/C components, no moonroof manual sport seats, T5 not an AOD, couple other small things gutted maybe. Optioned out, these things pack on a lotta mass. Still makes new cars look like real fatties though....

My turbo car is #4040lbs with me and 1/2 tank of fuel


The Blk cat is #3200 with me and bout 10 gal fuel

 Still has pwr seat and windows  but the seats are aftermarket  fuel cell no sound deadning

I forget what mine weighed exactly, but I think it was in the range of 3300. That's with a subwoofer and two amps in the trunk, subframe connectors, an 8.8" TC rear and a 5-speed. It was a low optioned car (A/C, cruise, tilt, PW/PM/PL, but nothing else)

I brought my 'underbird to the flour mill I pick up from, at work. With a full tank of gas it was 3600lbs, exactly.

Considering I'm getting the two cylinder bolt-on done, I'm going to take a weekend and remove all of the sound deadening material and whatever else I might be able to remove to lose some dead weight.

Mine weighed 3760 with me(200Lb), mini spare, 3/4 tank and a small tool bag, this is with dual power seats and all options in place... It should weigh right around 3500Lb without the extras, maybe down to 3450 when low on gas...

BTW I weighed it my self on VMP's scales... To be sure they were correct, I checked the difference with me out of the car, dropped to 3560 exactly...

I bet mine weighs 38 more lbs than yours because of the iron heads and the ECC equipment.

I'm not taking any weight out of the car as it's not a track car and I like all my my comfort stuff. It's still not running too bad as a 93 Mustang Cobra with basically the same engine will run a 14.5 stock on street tires. That car only weighs about 3250ish lbs. Mine still needs a bit more power though;)

Mine was 3835lbs last time I went to the track...I'm 250, it had an iron-headed 351w, T-5, all a/c components(just didn't work), a jumper box in my trunk with spare tire, jack, tire iron and a big ol' box of tools in the back seat.

I'm just hoping my '85 CV coupe is under 4000lb with the 351W in it....according to the title it's 300lbs lighter than the 'Bird.  And it certainly doesn't "feel" like a heavy car.  I'll have to weigh it when my boss takes his Nova to the track.

Wow....I am surprised to see 5.0 T-Birds/Cougars weigh that much.

Our Gray 83 T-Bird w/460 weighs 3350 lbs w/o driver (w/draglites)

The Maroon 460 TC weighs 3450 w/o driver using stock wheels and an all cast iron BB.

It's not the engine it's all the options. Dual power seat tracks and the motors and sensors for the automatic climate control add a bunch of weight....

Optionless FTW

As soon as I get mine back on the road I'm gonna go weigh it. I'm really thinking it won't be very much with NO options inside, AC removed, 5-speed, oh yeah, and a half aluminum V6
