You should go with option 1. Take it to court and fight for what is right! If you run away, you'll regret it forever. Not to mention, if you leave, who else are these people going to harass? And for what? As long as no one calls the bullies bluff, the longer they think they are invincible. Fight for what is right! If you lose then, at least you can walk away with your head held high.

BTW, if it was my brother adding to this , I'd beat his ass down.

I can't. Well, I can, but what will that help? He will find a way to hurt me worse than a fight (i.e slashing my brand new tires, something like that). And I also have taken police reports to the city Magistrate and she put out a warrant for his arrest and the mother and daughter now have a court date based on all the police reports we took with us.

Keep them under legal pressure and they tend to shut up real fast. No one really likes to pay fines or go to jail.
However, if they continued to use vulgar language towards/in front of my children, I'd look at some additional avenues. Some states/locales rate that as child abuse.

I'd say fight it in court too, but I understand about your kids man. I have a little 19 month old girl, and I think in your situation, I'd have to leave too...

But, since it is entirely their fault that you have to leave, why not go back after you've moved out, and start a little ruckus? Give it about 2-3 months, so they'll be somewhat unsuspecting, and seek your revenge. Then, give it another month or two, and hit 'em again. I'm not saying to do anything too detrimental, but give em a little scare. Maybe after a few times of doing this, you'll see a for sale sign in their front yard.

Good luck man. And at least you still have the rumble of a small block Ford to keep a smile on your face.

I like Eric's ideas... oh and the one about the cleaning of guns on the front porch... I would also do some target practicing (if you have room for it safely)....but then again, I am a good shot...and I would make sure they knew it too. :D

BTW, do you know what happens when a dog 'accidentally' drinks anti-freeze?

As much as I don't like them, I couldn't hurt an animal like that, hell, they have about 9 dogs, but they don't bother me one bit.

The property damage/animal abuse/etc is shiznit. Sometimes fighting fire with fire is not the best answer.

The gun cleaning things is fine and good, I'd highly recommend that...provided you are legal and all

It's when people damage others' property to "get back" at them, it makes me wanna just bust someone's head with a croquet mallet...just like Shane did on Weeds...but oh well, shiznit happens I reckon. :hick:

I'm not saying I condone injuring animals, however, if it was a situation where someone was being threatened by one (especially my kids) , I would definitely do something to stop it.... whatever it took.

I'm sorry to hear all the trouble they're causing you. Maybe all the legal pressure will cause them to stop what they're doing and chill or move. It would be nice if you could do as mentioned and buy thier house for the owed taxes and put them out but then you have to deal with squaters rights. I do think you can do something legally about the bullying though, also as mentioned that's in the spot light right now.

I really hope you find a solution. It just sucks for you to be the one to move and not the trouble makers.

-lets clean our guns so they can see= perfect advice except for one reply to it. There is nothing illeagal in any state on guns that require paperwork. I have several and none of them are registered from the hand guns to the rifles. IE- my guns were given to me so that make me a special condition under the law.

-lets poison the dogs= yep thats a solution especially from a so called animal lover who apparently takes donations to protect animals. thanks for yet another confirmation that the liberals are the real exreamists.

The universe has an odd way of sending messages and you probably have known for a long time your not happy. The universe has probably been screaming at you in various ways for years now that you really dont belong there and you should have already moved or found a place in the country by now and you have "let" time march on and ignored your correct path. Get out of there.
My advice in the meantime is this:
At Tiger direct dot com , i just saw where they have a night vision / day 4 camera system that records on dvr for about 250bux. Get that and set it up.

Go about your normal routine and perhaps even make it obvious your going away with the family. Let them vandal your home / cars ect for a couple of times then take that to court.

Another thing,, find out how much your property would be worth without a house. Sometimes clean land is worth more than one with a house no one wants.

Talk to another owner who has land attached to yours and see if they would like to purchase the property just for land value.
If they are interested then go to the fire dept and have your home burned to the ground by the fire dept for training purposes. They do it here in WV and you can simply pay them a donation and they do a controlled burn. ONce done, the deed to the land is signed over to the other party and they pay you for the land. Take a small loss on the total value and your down the road with an outstanding debt with your lender which is the small difference.
You dont have to forclose and you walk away with probably 10k in debt if not less.

another thing to do is to find out who your allies are on the street, and if you have none, then thats another reason to move on.

sounds like you have a lot of drama going on and its doing nothing for you or your focus on the important stuff like i even had to say that.

Its a buyers market out there right now man,,, think about that for a minute but get it while the gettin is good. Be careful not to look at property that historically has top end property tax just due to location. The market will come back and when it does, you will find yourself in a location that is a time bomb waiting to go off. Just dont put yourself in a home thats going to put you out later due to taxation.

There is no diplomatic way out of this, the mother is likely the root of the situation and she probably bends her hubby over in the bedroom. There are control freaks out there who want total domain over everything. Shes probably disgusted with herself and she makes sure everyone around her is miserable including her neighbors.

the one piece of advice i can think of is the raise your standard of living by doing what your gut tells you is right. Moving away isnt a loss, its a message that will ring loud and clear as your kids and wife refer back to the day when "papa just got sick and tired of it and we moved". I wouldnt waste my time dickin around with "winning". These friggin people dont win anything, they just encourage drama and live off the fat of the land and my taxs. Your reputation is on the line here no matter how you dice it. I wouldnt bother wasting my time competing with these idiots either,, like what do they have that you want to compete with so bad? They have nothing and you do,, you have a stable job and are earning your way though hard times and therfore you are a "Maker" and not a "Taker".

Scott, you are exactly right. The mother is the root of these problems. One of our other neighbors (one of my Wife's friends, lives right beside us) is moving out, today actually, because of the mother starting on her as well. She is one of those types of people that if you don't "join" her (i.e being her so-called friend and engage in making life miserable for others) she makes shiznit miserable for you. End of story.

Exactly. They have no drive to want a better life and would rather live off of welfare and foodstamps than make a real attempt at a decent life, which I have never been able to understand why people are like that. It baffles me, laziness I guess??

Well, I do. I want to provide the best for my family as I can, and as happily and comfortably as i can. Thats what I am going to do. We are going to try our hardest to stay out of debt, (It's not like we own a 180,000 dollar house, we owe roughly 24,000) but it's not my main concern right now. Getting out of here is. It will take about a month of saving before we are (financially) ready to move, but the end is near.
