It's finally over!

I have tried many times. I start to walk over there to talk things out, and she starts yelling and threatening to call the cops  and blah blah blah. I would love nothing more than to talk to her as one adult to another, come up with a rational solution, and end all the madness. I have even tried to talk to her old man, and when I do, she flips out on him for talking to me. It's insane.

While this isn't exactly related to your case, there was a thread awhile back on the corral about a feller who owned a house, "sold" it to some less-than-stellar folks who put him off numerous times for the money.
While he moved away out west, they pretty well trashed the place...when he went back east evict them, they burned it.

Since I've read more about this, I'd first go have a heart-to-heart with these folks and see if some middle ground can be reached.

Not pick on your brother, but if he was on drugs, no telling how bad he may have amplified the situation. Then again, if they knowingly let him *date* their 16 year old, legal or not, that to me shows some bona fide stupidity on their part.

I'd not mess around with cops anymore unless you can catch them doing vandalism, or prove that they did.

Get ahold of tax officer, or find who really owns the house, and see if they will do something..

I am never the one who calls them, aside from when the egged my shiznit and broke my window. I feel cops could make better use of their time than to deal with this .

I am in a similar situation. Neighbors are basically being d-bags, kid can't go out and play anymore. No cops called yet, but the situation is definitely tense. We don't own our home but we have thought about walking away or trying to renegotiate our lease. If it were just me and the wife, we could tough it out no problem. But as a parent I feel it is my job to provide the best environment possible, and this definitely isn't it.

Right now I am at my threshold of remaining at this property... Legally.

Only you can decide when you have exceeded yours.

I am not sure what you have locally for laws, in canada we have a law where no person shall prohibite another person from legal use of property which they are legally allowed to use.  I had a simular situation years ago, everytime that i would go outside to work on my car my neighbours would start yelling profanities at me with my kids sitting right there.  I would invite people over for a couple drinks and quietly chat around a bonfire and they would sit outside with thier car sound systems (subs amps the whole 9 yards) and just crank it at like 11pm.  I can honestly say that i had never done anything to instigate this.  I made a call to a guy I know on the local pd and he came and laid charges because thier behaviour was prohibative of me enjoying legal activities on property that I had legal access too.

I cant remember the section of our criminal code but i would see if you have a simular charge and deffinatly make it known to the police if you even feel slightly threatened for yourself or your family.

Wow, that sucks.

My folks had to get into it with one of our neighbors because their dog just. Would. Not. Stop. Barking. The poor thing had no food or water, no shelter, and was left tied to a stake on a short leash while the homeowners rode all over the region on their motorcycle. Not the dog's fault, but nothing any reasonable human should expect to listen to all day. Fortunately it was all taken care of through the police department, who told the neighbors that my folks were right, and if they had to come out one more time, the barking dog's owner would get a hefty fine. They kept the dog in the house the rest of the summer. This was last year. This year, it appears they're getting ready to sell the house as they've filled several dumpsters already. Only heard the dog once. We were as civil to them as we could be, but enough is enough.

Now this whole sitcheeashun y'all got going on down there in Tenn...if it were me, I'd try to located a concentrated EMP generator and aim it at their house at 4 am. Fry every piece of electronics in their house, and their car's computer. You could easily feign ignorance. That would be totally delicious.

Do those even exist? I don't know for sure. Just saying, it would be like, totally rocking if you could do that.

Or, I would get one of those outdoor speakers that look like a rock, and put 3 or 4 of them facing the neighbors. Then hook them to a stereo on the inside of the house. And on that stereo, I would burn a CD and put it in the player, on an endless loop, 24/7. And on that CD, I would place audio files in the upper frequency band that only young people can hear. That will drive the kids over there totally bonkers. Maybe even the dog too. And if they call the police (eventually), you could say, "Officer, there's nothing on this CD. Listen." And he, of course, would not be able to hear it. And you would get away with it and keep doing it.

I'm one for a subtle kind of revenge. ;)

Anyway, I'm not seeming to bring anything constructive to the table here, but I hope that you can somehow figure out a way to either co-exist or sell the house.

We (my wife and I) are at the point now where we are going to let the bank forclose on our house and just move out. We have tried selling for over a year with no luck. I can't afford to pay rent on another house and pay for this one. It seems I am running out of options.

Sorry for the long rant, but I don't really know what to do. If one of you guys were in a tight spot like this, what would you do?

Foreclosure may actually be your best option as real estate is going nowhere but down for the next ten years or so.  If you can rent for less, it probably makes sense.  But, please see a real estate lawyer before you do this.

The house isn't worth much. The county asesses the value (property value) at like 19,500. We paid 29,900 for the house with 2000 down and 10% interest (was kind of like an owner finance thing, then after a year the loan was sold to a bank) - I bought the house right after I turned 19 and had (and still have) not bad credit, but no credit. It's looking more and more like we are just going to move out. There's no point in owning a home where you will never be happy in. The neighbors aren't going anywhere, so I think the best choice is for us to get out. We are going to try to find a rental home cheap enough for us to pay both notes, but that is very unlikey (the note on my home isn't very much, $347 a month PITI but for a good rental home in a nicer area will be a lot more). I will be calling a real estate lawyer later on today to find out exactly what will happen. It's sucks, but it's just time for me to throw in the towel.  :toilet:

Just spoke to a Real Estate Attorney. I have basically 2 options. I can hire an Attorney and pay them $150 an hour to go to court and file an injunction on the neighbors, which pretty much (as the lawyer explained to me) is we all go to court and have a judge hear the case, the judge tells the neighbors what they aren't allowed to do to us, and if they break the injunction they face serious fines/jail time. Option 2: Move the hell out. Have a foreclosure on my credit for several years. This will not stop me from buying a home in the future, it will make it harder, with a higher interest rate.

I think we are going with option 2. This just isn't the house for us. I know I will have to work extra hard for my family to buy another house, but that is what I am willing to do for their happiness. Young kids should not be objected to what these kids have heard/been through.

Do 1, but show up yourself. Just study the laws and similar cases. The law will generally side with the voice of reason. Honestly, if it were me, I could't tell you what I would do.

I had an issue like this once, with neighbors at an apartment complex.

I was constantly getting into arguments over their loud music, disrespectful attitudes, and bullying of my daughter.    I found a sure way to solve it.

I started cleaning my guns outside, on teh porch.  When you have a few handguns, a mossburg 12 gauge, a tricked out AR-15, and a can of ammo next to you..... people tend to not cross you.  I kid you not, the first of the month after seeing me do that, they LEFT.  And BOY, was it quiet in that last month they were there!

Honestly Kitz, I have mulled that over for about a year or so. I know the first "suspects" would be them. It seems it would be easy. But,,,, I just can't do it. I've been raised to do the right thing and that would seriously bother me, even though I would LOOOOVE to.
