 Seriously though alot depends on the market where you are selling.
 Here in East TN you will not buy anything that can be driven home for less than $800, From what I hear from friends in Florida $200-300 buys stuff all the time .
Offer what it is worth to you , if he accepts I can tell you, you will like driving it :D

Actually, now that I think about it. You shouldn't buy it unless it doesn't need anything at all. It's a lot cheaper to buy a nice Mark VII that doesn't need anything than to buy a rough one and fix it up. :hick:

I bought a Mark VII for $475 and spent over 20 times that, and it still needed stuff done. Nice, straight rust free car too.


Fair enough, I got mine for a straight up trade for a 98 Windstar mini van, The only things I needed to buy that were Mark specific were rear air springs . Everything else was available from other fords, I guess I was lucky    :D

Id say get it,, i would like to learn past the air bag myths myself.  Always "heard" that was a major issue and expensive.

Ill bet I would end up being someone who says they are easy to fix as well.

I'm going to look at the thing today. The big deciding factor for me is how much rot it has being that it's a Chicago car;)

I'm not worried about the electronics. My T-bird has pretty much everything that a Mark VII has. It's got power windows,locks and mirrors, full digital dash with the trip computer,  dual power seats with power recline, and the electronic climate control. It's only missing air suspension;)

Why must you put these thoughts in my head lol.

I'd go for it as long as the rust aint bad. I cant really see paying more than $800 for it if everything checks out good.

Well it's too late now. Someone paid the asking price for it (not me). I didn't even get a chance to get a good look at it. Oh well other cars will come up. They always do;)

I used to have one ---- and wish I had never let this guy talk me into selling it.

I think they are cool. 

Power plus luxury.

It's kinda like a Mustang in a tuxedo.

I like 'em too I just have to find a decent one. The one near me sold before I could even get a close look at it. Another one will show up for sale again. I hope ;)

Guess it was worth more than $350 then, wasn't it? hypostang was 100% right. It depends on where you're selling the car and what's available around there. Of course, in Chicago, there are a bazillion people too. So, you have a much greater chance of someone else in the area liking it. I've always paid whatever I thought a car was worth to me. You win some, you lose some. But if you buy what you like, then you're always happy. Look at the bird you have now. My guess is you'd be happy with that car even if you would have paid 3-4 times as much for it. Keep your eyes open and good luck!

I agree. I was only willing to pay somewhere around $400 for it. It wasn't worth more than that to me because of the paint. Someone else apparently was looking for that car though and had to have it.

I think this was a win for thunderjet.  There's plenty of Marks out there.  You are better off spending $3K on a really nice one needing nothing than $400 on one needing a bunch of stuff.  That car isn't worth $1200.  Just because someone pays a high price for something doesn't mean it's worth that high price.
