Lincoln Mark VII buy it yes or no?

This car is literally 4 blocks from my house. Do you think I should pick it up? I've seen it being driven locally.

As a former Mark VII owner I would say , GO FOR IT !!!
I absolutely loved mine,, I would still have it but I  was in a position where I needed to sell it in order to keep food on the table .

I have never owned one, but I have always really liked those cars. If I was you, I would at least go check it out. Once you can see it in person, it may be pretty easy to make up your mind. FWIW, my opinion mirrors hypo's - GO FOR IT !!!

Hell no.  Problem with Marks is they were built with "high tech" features which now cost a fortune to fix.

myths...
Nothing is any more expensive than a bird or cougar :D
The brakes are the same as 87-88 turbo coupe ,the EATC is the same , and the air suspension is highly misunderstood  but so painfully simple once you learn how it works .
I would recommend joining "Lincolns On Line" forum if you buy one

I'd buy it.

When the 'bags go, swap the susp., unless you want to pay an arm, and 3 legs for new bags, etc.

Buy parts for a newer Mercedes, or a Porsche...Thunderbirds are cheap, trust me lol.

Rear brakes are different than TC's, and what's an etac? :flip: I thought it was EATC? lol ;):rollin:

I'd buy it, but then, I've wanted one for a minute or two...

New bags are cheaper than a conversion kit , And what I meant was the Teves ABS  system is the same
not the actual pads/ rotors

And I never could type :hick:

My advice would be, if you buy it then make sure you also buy parts cars for it.

For the same reason you would need a parts car for any 20+ year old car ?????
I wondered about that statement too :hick:

Not for that buy-it-now price. That car is worth about $350-$450. How’s the tire tread? One of those shots makes the tires look like bologna skins.

Maybe I'm spoiled with my car which is complete and really doesn't need any parts;)

You think I would pay almost $1,200 for that? No way. I was thinking about offering $450 and working around that. I only paid $900 for my 88 T-bird and it's a rust free California car. I think I got a hell of a deal on it;)

Ok, good.

Offer $350 and see where that goes.  Hopefully no hyper-sensitive types take offense...but you are competing with the junkyards on that car.

This is the reason, it's a lot cheaper to buy a bunch of spare Mark VIIs than to buy the parts to fix one up.

Actually, now that I think about it. You shouldn't buy it unless it doesn't need anything at all. It's a lot cheaper to buy a nice Mark VII that doesn't need anything than to buy a rough one and fix it up. :hick:

I bought a Mark VII for $475 and spent over 20 times that, and it still needed stuff done. Nice, straight rust free car too.
