Need some help

I was driving home today like usual, got off my exit let off the gas and started to coast to the light went to hit the gas to get a bit farther and the gas pedal went down with ease no real resistance. I knew something was not right but I wasnt home so I had to continue the car also didnt seem to be shifting correctly either.

Got hom popped the hood and this is what I saw

It seems like the bottom wire isnt coming all the way back to where it should. It runs down under the car to the tranny??

Is it going to screw somehting up by driving it like this. It is my ride to work in the morning??

Thanks guys

Confirmed.  See my post about replacing it. Mine slipped off while my dad was transporting my SC.  OD was pretty much gone by the time he realized it and fixed it.

its easy to convert a v6 to 5 speed. just get a mustang v6 5 speed donor car thats the easy way or just piece it together from different mustangs.

Even with the 3.8,a 5 speed would change the whole feel of the car.It would probably make you really happy.
