Wonder why it has the 83 door interior panels (and the cougar emblems pulled off and placed on the trunk lid)?

Otherwise, very nice!

I've already owned a conversion convertible... I don't think I'll own another.

Neat car though.

1989 asc/McLaren convertible. The top mechanism was almost well designed...  but not quite.

Hmmm... 3.8/C5. Guess it qualifies for C4C :hick:

I'd love to have that (of course that pretty much goes without saying). It's in such good shape I could even forgive the 3.8...

first thing i would do is pull that stupid looking thing off that trunk.  i mean the same day i would bring it home.  i wouldnt drive anywhere with that thing.  then i would swap in a 5.0.  i remember how much of a slug my 86 3.8 was, it was slugish but fun to drive.  but i cant imagine how a much heavier convert would drive.

Nice color.

Just because something can be added doesn't mean it should be added. (V6 badge, leaping Jag, other badges, dummy tire, etc.)

Less would have been more in this case.

Those same style base door panels were used from 1983-86 on GS models. There are a few subtle differences over the four model years (1983's have the Cougar emblems in the center, 1984's do not, 1985-86 door pull straps have plastic end caps, etc.) but otherwise they had the same appearance.

Actually, asc did a pretty good job on keeping cowl-shake to a minimum. It was the poor weatherstripping, and the many Mickey Mouse ways in which much of the conversion was doen, and the asc conversion was VERY expensive!

I hear you on the weatherstripping part. Then again, you can't expect perfection when the company grafts a Buick Riviera convertible top onto a Mercury...
