I almost had an '88 Shelby Daytona with the turbo motor as my first car, but the thing poured out oil like a SOB, so I stayed away, but it was an awesome car.

And X2 on the pics......

It's a white/silver 1989 SE 2.5 NA automatic with grey cloth interior. A real dog off the line, but cruises nice and gets decent mileage. I bought it from our Director of Maintenance who bought it new and treated it like a pet. He never drove it in winter, and it only had 53,000 miles when I got it last year. Super clean and the interior is spotless. Even has the color keyed Daytona floor mats in good condition! It seriously looks a year old top to bottom.

It's optioned funny. It has ground effects and spoiler, 4 wheel discs, 15 inch alloys, A/C and power mirrors, but no cruise, power locks or power windows. It's a nice car for John. Looks cool and is unusual, has the hatchback for his trombone and golf bag. Has an airbag and wasn't too expensive in case he gets in a fender-bender. I'm not a big Dodge fan, but this was a deal I couldn't pass up. If he takes care of it it'll get him through college easily.

I'll get a pic or two up later. Can't find any right now, and I have to go help out my brother. His Suburban needs to go to the shop for a brake issue and he needs a lift.

Started to troubleshoot the wiring. Found a mis-wire on the transmission stub harness. I had swapped  the red/lb and another wire. Just have to change those and I think the starter circuit is fixed.

I still want to check some other circuits before I try to plug Megasquirt in again. I hope to be able to swap starters with the one I got from a buddy tonight. It'd be nice to at least crank it over.

Swapped the wires and fixed a bad pin on the 501 connector. Starter relay circuit is OK now.

Mailed in my checks to the Govt's. I have a couple days this week to hopefully get back to where I (thought ) I was.

Coming into ORH today westie. Won't be staying long, though.

Yeah, sorry it didn't work out this time. I ended up flying with a new hire, and I gave him a chance to do a couple landings before we even got to eat. Had to grab something quick and get back.

I'll get this sucker going real soon. Just need to have a minute or two without something else coming up.

Hopefully! :D

OK, I didn't like what I was getting from my battery, so I pulled the one from the TR7.

Got it cranking fine. Now to get the fuel lines done and try the computer again. One weird issue is the speedo is bouncing during cranking. I gotta look at the VSS wires to see if they are right.

IT RUNS......... for a minute

Long day. I'll recap it.

First I hooked up the Baumann and loaded a beginning tune and set the initialization parameters. Checked the shifter positions against the software readout and all appeared normal. Good news there.

Then I split the engine wiring harnesses apart enough to check ALL the pinouts on Megasquirt, and verify circuits through the connectors. The only thing I didn't do was pull the intake to check the injector plugs underneath.

Everything checked out but MS wasn't connecting again. Hmm. Pulled MS out and it bench tested OK.

The FP relay was acting really weird, staying on after the ignition was off, so I replaced the (new) relay with another. Problem solved. Went on to look at fuses for MS power. They looked fine, but I wasn't getting power to pin 28 at the computer itself. I checked the MS fuse with a multimeter, and found it to be blown where it wasn't showing visually. Replaced fuse (probably blown from wonky FP relay) and I had connection at last! All the odd clicks and things were gone with ignition on, and it finally was acting normal.

Then I got under the car and fixed the fuel line connections, but had a brain fart and hooked return to feed and feed to return. Turned the key.....No leaks, but no fire. Checked coils and had good spark which lead me to the mixed up fuel lines.

By this time all I had was 20 minutes left until I had to take my son to his concert performance with CYWS up at Cleveland State, but I figured I give it one last try.

She turned over twice and fired up! It only ran for a couple of seconds a couple of times before I had to quit to get cleaned up. I got good oil pressure and just one hint of a  minor fuel leak at the back of the engine somewhere. The oil pressure sender is also weeping, but I expected that since it appeared to be loose.

I am too beat to go on tonight, but tomorrow I'll get the fuel pressure gauge wired in so I can set base fuel pressure and begin to get it tuned enough to keep running at idle.

Plus I owe you guys a video!

Excellent!  Glad you finally got it fired up!

I mixed up the fuel lines on my old Ranger 2.3T swap.  Aggravating.
