Bummer. Sorry to hear that. You have a good attitude take break and step back it will all come together.
This from the guy who threw a hissy fit in my garage today thankfully by myself. On another note I have a brand new aftermarket starter solenoid that runs the starter in the run position? It needs a whack once in a while. Ill probably get a new one from ford.
Good luck

Sucks, Jim.

Hopefully you can get your ducks lined up soon, and get this things started.

Thanks, guys.

Pretty frustrating day. We lost power for 1/2 the day first off. I had to twiddle my thumbs for 4 hours that I could have been doing something. Then to have so many issues. It's way worse than the TR7 was initially. So little works that I can hardly know where to start.

Bench testing one of the ignition switches shows it to be OK, so I'm thinking I mis-wired something somewhere that backfed into MS and messed it up. Probably the same circuit that is feeding the starter wire. I'll start with that theory and work forward.

I pulled the cover off the MS, but don't see any burned traces or anything out of the ordinary. It just won't connect to the computer.

So, 4 things on the short list.

1. Find the mis-wired circuit(s)
2. Troubleshoot and fix megasquirt
3. Troubleshoot/ Replace starter
4. Troubleshoot/ replace fuel pump

I never got to checking the Baumann computer. I'll pull it and bench test it now. I SURE hope it didn't take a hit also.

Sigh.

I'm so sorry to hear it.  I'm sure it is disheartening...  Take your time.  I know you are anxious to hear that thing run (and so are we).

The wiring issue is probably something simple - once you find the problem.  Take your time to research and investigate.  You have been so methodical and patient thus far - Don't stop!

I sure do wish I lived closer - this is the time you need help - at least moral support.

I appreciate that. It'd be fun having another helper.

Well, after working on the MS for a while I got it back up and running. :D  The hardware all checked out so I re-flashed the processor. That took care of the comm issue.

Now to find the wiring problems before I try to attach it again.

Got the fuel pump. It was the impact cutout. The button was in, but no continuity.

3 down. Starter appears to be NFG. I'm not sure about what is wrong in the harness. It's a toughy.

Well at least you're getting there! Like everyone said, just take your time and go easy with it. You'll find problems much easier when your calm than when you're all fired up. I know cause I always get fired up at  like that! lol.

Just remember you're already past the time you intended to start it up and you're never going to make it now, so just sit back, and don't be in a hurry. It makes it a lot easier. I know when I get fired up it's cause I want something done in a hurry and can't figure it out and it drives me nuts. When you don't care how long it take you, it makes things so much easier lol.

Good luck buddy.

Thanks Steve.

2 steps forward one step back. Fuel line leaking at fitting. Looks like I got one the wrong size, somehow. -6 to 5/16" feed line to regulator. Gotta check my receipts to see if I ordered wrong or what.

EDIT

Yep, ordered a 3/8". DOH!

I definitely agree about taking your time and not getting fired up.  I have a pretty bad temper and it doesn't take much to set me off.  Once that happens I can't get anything done.  I had a hell of a time dropping my motor in today, the mounts just weren't cooperating.  You just have to take a step back and clear your head.  You're getting there, keep it up.

Thanks for checking in on me jridenour31. I know I can get this figured out. The frustration comes from wanting to drive it soon. That and my son is starting to show an interest. Plus I'm into the Masters crunch (at work) that I knew was coming, so I can't work on it right now.

I'm just cooling it until I get time again, and working on my golf game. It's all I can do right now. I may take my last week of vacation early to get this sorted out and then get the paint job underway.

This is gonna be a kick-ass car, but it's a HUGE project that isn't going to play nice, apparently. I will overcome in the end. I know I can do this!

I have to say, the support I have received from you all has really been a huge help.

Thank you very much.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that you will get it sorted out.  You know what you're doing and you have a plan.  You just need the time to get back to it, which is a frustration in itself.

Keep pressing, you'll be cruising soon.

Truly, golf will be getting in the way soon. I did all my practice on the road this week. I wasn't here to do anything anyway.

I have 4 passions in life, and try to feed them all as much as I can.

Doing brakes on my son's Daytona today, and replacing the hatch struts so he can start driving it to school. It'll be nice not to have to run him to band, weight lifting, and golf practices.

I've been using the Daytona a lot myself, but now the TR7 will be my daily again and it needs some TLC. It's due for an oil change and general inspection, plus I need to fab a cold air intake for cabin air. Right now it is sucking engine bay air and it smells a bit when the heater is running and the car is closed up. I need to make a metal box with 2 2" flexible hoses attached to run into the fender well area to get fresh air so I don't smell like the inside of an exhaust pipe when I get to work.

A friend has a new starter that may work for me on the the 'bird, and hopefully I can get over to his place and pick it up later today.

I have to cut and flare the fuel lines for tube nut fittings, then the fuel system will be repaired and ready. Then I can jump back into the wiring problem and try for a start again.

Grass is growing, taxes are due, and I have a honey-do list 10 items deep. This time of year sucks for getting garage time.

Cool, hope you get done in time to get the paint job. LOL, Spring means a lot of work for us northern guys!

I did pick up the starter today. Worked a small while on the Tbird, but just checking connectors and going over the wiring diagram to get a clue where to start .

The Daytona was a piece of cake. The rear brakes are a breeze on it, and it is as clean as a 1 year old car, so no drama with rusted . Hope the boy keeps it nice while he has it. It's a pretty cool little car.
