have you thought about the shifter from a 94-97 bird? the ones that came with an 4R70W stock. I think they are the same shifter handle but IMO the gear selector panel looks waaaayyyyy better. Its more flat, like the one for ours.

Wow that looks great! I like it much more than what I have.

Time to go shopping.

Thanks a lot Steve!

i guess this solution also solves the problems getting the turbo to drain oil back down.

nice work

might as well get yourself a big ass air horn,, drive it off the turbo,,lol

heck ,, i wonder if you could use that to keep an airtank full in the trunk.  im not sure how much psi could be robbed from it ,,just a thought.

Sorry, I'm not following you about the oil drainback comment. What exactly are you referring to?

The issue I foresee is due to where I had to locate the turbo. There just weren't a lot of options given the size of the thing. It ends up with the drain exit from the turbo being right on top of the frame rail. So, in order to get a nice , smooth, straight run downhill into the oil pan fitting I may need to cut a notch out of the frame.

Just a little update. I've been putting the MS together. I have about 2 more hours and it'll be done today.

Got called in to work, but got the 'squirt done except for a 750 ohm resistor I need for the EDIS output side mod. I gotta run to the store for a good connector to wire in the fan anyway. Not many more parts left to buy, just assembly from here on......

Yeah. I'm pretty happy I have the bulk of the stuff here, now. I'm sure there will be some things that pop up, but if I keep a good pace I should be hearing it fire up at least in a few weeks.

I'm going to be sitting in a hotel in Camarillo, California a few days next week, so I'm going to take my stack of receipts and add up the damage so far.

I am getting out to the garage every morning I can before 5:00 AM to get some uninterrupted time on it.

My daughter's '01 Saturn started acting up last month and we ended up trading it on a 2011 Versa SL hatchback.  (Early college graduation present.) Pretty cool little car, reminds me of my old VW GTI's I had in the 80's. Now with 2 new cars in the family I really want to get mine running.

A buddy was over to do brakes on his Kia, and he helped me put in the heater box. I ended up pulling it, because it is closer to the kick panel than I remembered, and I didn't have room enough to finish installing the electronics. Now that I've done it once I can do it alone easily, though.

Once Radio Shack opens I'll run out for the resistor I need, close up the Megasquirt and get it mounted along with the Dakota Digital fan control and the remote door lock stuff. Then the heater can go back in.

The Dakota has a neat feature for turning the fan to high speed when the A/C is on, so I ran a wire back for that off the low pressure cutout switch.

I'll also wire in a relay in the compressor circuit that is normally closed to act as a WOT cutout switch. I'm thinking I will either ground the relay with MS, or just use a Hobbs switch that is referenced to , say, 5 psi of boost. When that point is reached it will turn off A/C and can also activate a (future) water injection system.:burnout:

The cut off switch for the ac , Isn't that what the control does? Thats how mine works. Nice megasquirt, you need it running to play with that!!, just kiddin ya, Nice build and keeping it watchable here.

  Ya, you're a funny man.

At the track I'll turn it off, but I'm a soft old guy and it'll be on otherwise.

Megasquirt is mounted. I couldn't find a suitable resistor at Radio Harf, so I put a couple in series to get real close to 750 ohm. It's a pullup resistor to strengthen the voltage signal to the EDIS for ignition. The TR7 works with a 1Kohm so I'm sure the  I cobbed up will work. Everything checks on the bench with the Stimulator.

I teed off the boost gage line for MS MAP signal.

I lied about not buying any more parts. I want to start off with good brakes and suspension, so I sent in an order to Rockauto for:

2 reman front calipers
2 reman rear calipers
2 rear rotors
reman 2.5 turn rack
2 new outer tie rod ends
rack bushings set
spark plugs (EDIS style)
serpentine belt
20 new ball  lug nuts

I'll wait and see on the front rotors and brake hoses, but will probably pick a set of those up when I get there. The hoses can go bad on the inside and constrict flow with age.

My play money is drying up fast, because I decided to get a new LC-1 rather than use the DIY-wideband that I built years ago but never installed in anything. I trust the Innovate stuff, and the DIY is untested. I'll probably just sell off the DIY unit for the cost of the sensor to someone.

I'll get some pics up of the mounted electronics in a little bit. Working on mounting/ wiring the remote lock unit and connecting wires to the DD fan control at the moment.

OK, tidied up the bundles, just have a few stragglers left for the mirror and for the wideband (when it gets here). I also left a few (red) ignition and (yellow) unfused 12v leads for future stuff.

MS is on left, Dakota Digital controller below it facing up, fusebox wired to ignition to supply power to everything, and hidden in front of MS is an AXXis noise filter feeding power to MS. Control relay on top right.

I think it turned out pretty good. The remote door lock control ends up better in the driver's side, since all the wires I need are over there.

Picture 2 is of the bundles as they enter the firewall. The wires out of the bundle are spares for future possibilities, so I don't have to mess with the waterproofing. I'll tidy those up after I get the boost control and wideband installed.XX

Your build seems to be moving along well.
All i have done to mine is clear some snow off and start it now and then.

But i took a pic of my turbo as well.

I have been thinking of going the MegaSquirt way when i turbo my BB so i would like to hear how your's works out.
