Installing LC-1 Reply #120 – January 24, 2011, 07:14:42 AM Opened the wideband box and started the install. First, I put the momentary switch and LED in the modified clock gage. Next is to mount the unit itself and attach the wires. I already have the grounds ready, just need to hook to switched power and an buttstuffog output to the Megasquirt O2 wire, plus the wire for the switch. Quote Selected
1988 TC single Holset turbo 5.0/ 4R70W Reply #121 – January 29, 2011, 09:36:46 AM Had to order a couple diodes and transistors to finalize Megasquirt. I need the stuff so I can pre-wire all the outputs inside for future use. Then all I have to do is hook up the appropriate wire and turn on the feature in the software to get going. The MS is going to be too hard to get to once the dash is in. Not impossible, but a pain. Secondly, I have decided to just run the shocks in firm and remove the PRC. Negligible gain if any from keeping it for softening the fronts for drag racing, according to info from the TF boys. apparently the front end comes down too hard causing the tires to loose traction. I can now use the firm ride LED for the OD deselected light, and use the space in the deck area for an amp or something instead of the PRC computer. On a side note, it's a great day to be inside the garage. Total weather outside. I got started on the intake cold side fab. Once I post this I need to get the brake unit in place to check clearance. Thought I'd toss up a couple pics first. Quote Selected

Luckily it mates up to the lower either way.I mounted up the brake unit, and sure enough I can't use a simple 90 out of the intake. The reason I want to remote mount the throttle body is to gain plenum volume and to allow the stock TC cables to work. I have spares for them. Here's what i have at the end of the morning session:From here, 1 short section of pipe plus two 45 degree silicone sections plus the blow off valve pipe should get it done. The pipe has to angle down and back from the manifold to clear the AC compressor. 1988 TC single Holset turbo 5.0/ 4R70W Reply #126 – January 30, 2011, 06:57:32 AM Thanks, Bob!The Digikey order arrived. Now I can wire the last 3 output circuits into MS and screw it down for good. I already used 1 output for EDIS SAW signal. The 3 remaining will be available for Tach output to my gauge, in case the EDIS IDM won't work, and 2 for PWM Water/Meth injection/ AC WOT cutout.Feb 1 is almost here, and I have a lot of work left before the engine can start. I need to pick up the pace to get it on the road early this year. I'm keeping a week of vacation in my pocket to possibly use for the paint.I realized last night that the AC piping will need to share space where the intake is being routed, so I'm gonna hang the compressor before I start to weld up the piping today. 1988 TC single Holset turbo 5.0/ 4R70W Reply #127 – January 30, 2011, 08:57:06 AM It didn't take long to find that the A/C lines can't be made to work with this packaging. After a search I did find an outfit that has adapter fittings that come straight out the back of the compressor. If I use that and some 90 degree fittings with new hoses I should be OK. I will have to have the high pressure line made up, and splice the suction line from the condenser to the pump. I can use a stock liquid line. Quote Selected
1988 TC single Holset turbo 5.0/ 4R70W Reply #128 – January 30, 2011, 09:00:01 AM Total cost to have the A/C built should be under $200.00 including freon, providing the crimping fees are reasonable. If I have to buy a crimping tool, it'll be $200.00 for that alone. ( I do my own charging here at the shop.)Here's what the fittings and tool look like: Quote Selected

Thanks, appreciate the kind words!Welded on the studs to hold the throttle cable bracket, after installing the pedal to check travel. Cut a piece off a Merkur throttle shaft and welded it onto the Explorer throttle body so it worked the right direction. It works!!! I am welding the plates onto the pipe from the inside, then gonna use good epoxy as a fillet around the outside of the joints. I'll use epoxy to smooth the weld on the bracket studs, too. Should look and work fine. To do list as of today:1. fab intake elbow and throttle cable attachments done2. mount radiator, condenser, intercooler, and fan3. mount trans cooler and PS cooler4. bend and install trans lines, radiator hoses, and IC hoses5. wire and install fan relays done6. wrap and seal wire bundle at firewall done7. build and mount MS CPU done8. mount Baumann CPU9. attach trans harness and shift cable at trans10. blow out/clean fuel lines, install tank11. make lines for FPR and mount12. put new yoke on driveshaft, check u-joints and install13. install heater and dash14. finish up last of the engine compartment wiring15. mount shifter and wiring for OD switch and led done16. finish up battery cabling17. grind turbo housing to clock it properly18. install turbo oil lines19. bolt on alternator and put on fan belt20. blow out brake lines, install master cylinder and fresh fluid21. Bolt on exhaust (minus catalytic converter)At that point I should be about ready to load software, fill trans and engine with fluids, hook up the battery, and try to start it for the first time. Once I have a runner I can get on to stage 2.1. re-wire headlight circuit with relays under dash2. install remote door lock electronics3. mount GPS antenna4. install carpc hardware and DC power regulators5. install speakers and amp6. install HD AM/FM radio7. install wideband O2 doneLast pics of the day: Quote Selected
1988 TC single Holset turbo 5.0/ 4R70W Reply #132 – January 31, 2011, 09:24:17 AM Made the 3 circuits for MS additional outputs. The relay is just wired to use the coil (85 and 86 terminals) to give a strong enough pulse to fire the dash tachometer. Our tachos are fired by the negative side of the coil.On the right is the transistor, diode , and resistor for the PWM water injection, next to it is the transistor, diode , and resistor for the water injection pump activation. PWM water injection takes 2 outputs from Megasquirt. The far left circuit is required for the tach relay trigger. Quote Selected
