Good score. You could swap in a 2.2l turbo for some fun in that thing. :) Quote Selected

You'd never guess it was a Northern states automobile.I want to change struts/shocks and tires on it, and the A/C needs a little freon. Otherwise it is in excellent shape.I like the fact it is a dog. It's my son's car. LOL Quote Selected

Wherever the mods want it is fine with me. I'm just happy to be here.I am amazed at how much this gets viewed, actually. It should be fun once I get to putting in the computer and tying everything together. That might be kinda interesting for people. This week has turned into a lot of hard labor in our yard. My wife is having some relatives in this coming weekend and I wanted to do some things to make the house look good for her. It was a drag at first, but I got into it after I got started. I'm super sore and stiff right now, but am going to get back on the car to see what I can get done.I am thrilled with how clean and rust free this 'bird is. I want to undercoat it with Waxoil once I get it road ready since I plan to drive it in all but the worst snow. Quote Selected

1988 TC single Holset turbo 5.0/ 4R70W Reply #427 – May 13, 2011, 08:54:20 PM Got the brake master mounted with some help from my daughter. Ended up having to take off the intake charge pipe to get it back in. I couldn't find the brake light switch in the boxes 'o parts, so I ordered a new one from NAPA. I missed their closing time by 10 minutes tonight to pick it up after work. Tomorrow I'll get it and try to start bleeding out the lines.I spent close to 2 hours fitting the Stinger 3" exhaust so far. It's a nice piece, don't get me wrong. It is just really tight to get in perfect position so it won't make noise. The TR7 took a month of fiddling and changing mounting points to get just right, but I made that up myself. It's a real bonus to start with Shannon's stuff right off the bat. The pipes are thick wall and have nice bends. I'll be tpuppies the center pipe quite a bit to get in a cat and a flex section. That's all that's left to do on it.I'm really, REALLY hoping to be taking it for a ride soon. It was kind of a disappointing 2 weeks of vacation as far as the car was concerned (minus 4 days I had to work during) except for the fact that the yard looks great and we have a working heat pump. Wifey is happy, so the universe is in alignment. That makes future golf and garage time easier for her to swallow. I have to keep priorities in line. It'll get done soon enough.I've decided to go with mono silver, painting the side moldings completely in body color (except the lettering in the turbocoupe emblems). That will save time and be nicer looking to my eye. I'll get on the paint in my spare time once the car is proven to be moving and stopping on it's own.I'll get up some pics tomorrow. Quote Selected

Thanks, bud! Here's a few pics of the latest round of effort.I made another mistake when I picked which cluster to use. I grabbed a 1986 TC cluster because it had the 24 psi boost gauge. I then glued my volt meter in to that cluster. The problem is that is isn't wired right for the BRAKE warning light. The brake warning on an 86 comes in on the same pin, but is displayed on a different place in the annunciator. The 86 gage cover doesn't have an anti-skid light spot at all. The fix was to use a 87-88 gage cover and re-locate the bulb by soldering a couple wires to a bulb holder. I then cut off the check engine bulb holder and used it for the anti-skid light. (The hole is bigger on the later clusters for the anti-skid light.)Then I spent 1 1/2 hrs. polishing the plastic face with a headlight cleaning disk. It came out near perfect. Quote Selected
1988 TC single Holset turbo 5.0/ 4R70W Reply #430 – May 15, 2011, 04:37:20 PM The rear E-brake cable was pretty well rusted to the old calipers and took some soaking and pounding to get free. Once that was done I got the calipers mounted and got the column and master bolted down tight. Got some help from Liz's boyfriend to bleed the brakes. Luckily all the power brake system is working fine so far, and we got the rears all bled out. I had one fitting leak where the rebuilder used a thread repair insert to fix the caliper banjo fitting and it needed to be dressed with a file to seal. Otherwise it went pretty well.I got out the vacuum tree and ran all the vacuum lines to the BOV and the wastegate, and redid the cruise control directly into the tree through a check valve. I'll add a vacuum can to the cruise later if I end up needing it.I had to work on some plugged up gutter drains on the house most of today, so I didn't get the front brakes and struts done yet. 1988 TC single Holset turbo 5.0/ 4R70W Reply #431 – May 18, 2011, 08:42:42 PM Well, I'm back from a 3 day trip and ready to make some progress tomorrow. I need front grease seals for the inner bearings and I can be ready to bleed the front brakes tomorrow. The new struts will go on as well.I'll get the exhaust done including the LC-1 sensor, and be ready for initial tuning. Me thinks a vid will be in the waiting tomorrow's eve. Quote Selected

Your dash in the pic above is about as torn down as you can get!!Yep, she's pretty stripped out! It's all bolted in now, though. I am going to be modding the switch panel for 1. A PC power over-ride switch, and2. A street/strip switch for boost control and transmission tune control I figure to use the firm ride and antenna switch locations for them. We'll see when I get there.I gotta try to get this exhaust done so I can get the car off jack stands. I've decided to call for a windshield while I'm in the body work stage so I don't risk paint damage afterward. This one has a star in it and a wiper mark.I thought I might get some love for that speedo! Quote Selected
