weld wheels

I have been thinking about changing up the look of my '88 T-bird and getting away from the 17x9 cobra's eventually. I really would like to go to a 15" wheel but I don't want to run a huge rear tire/rim and skinny fronts (I don't want to be a poser since my car is just a basically stock 5.0 HO). Has anyone ever run say a 15x8 on both front and rear or maybe a 15x8 on the rear and a 15x6 or something on the front? What size tires would be recommended?

Pics and opinions would be nice!

4thqtr? Pic is in the banner. Think he had a 15x6+ on front. Didnt look like skinnies. I would go with a 4.5 back spacing on the rears though. Having draglites that are the same front and rear look off to me.

thes are 15x8 wheels in the back, with p255/60r15 tires on those and in the front, I have 15x7 wheels with p235/60r15 tires on them.

the rear tires are 10 1/4" wide and the fronts are 9 1/4 wide.both ,front and back are 4 1/2 backspace.

That's exactly the look I want.  I like having 17" wheels but I really dont see any benifit to them when the rest of my chassis is not really built to handle.  I think a nice set of 15" or 16" wheels would really improve the drivability of the car. 

I thought you had a setup like that!  Thanks!  If I do it I will make sure and get a different style wheel so I don't rip off your idea!

I'm running about the same setup as Chooglin, except 15x6 up front. Definitely like how it looks - go for it!

I like both of your setups...however I am starting to see that there aren't many choices on wheel styles.  I'm pretty much going to have to rip one of your guys wheel styles off when I do this.

That would not bother me a bit,you dont see any of these cars with Rodlites on them,maybe there not to well liked.

enjoy trying to keep them clean.. i have since put the 10 holes back on the car. and still have the welds in one of my three walk in closets in one of my spare rooms.. on another note i wish my paint still looked as good as it did in 2003 :disappoin
i have better pictures of my car with the welds but not on this computer oh well sorry

how did you guess fit the weld wheels and your cars because i am having issues with my wheel studs not being long enough.
84 el camino ss-daily driver(efi mild sbc,2004r, posi 3:42 rear.)
84 mercury cougar v6- was a v6/ nitrous drag car, going back to mostly stock
81 chevy malibu-protouring/  drag car.( efi sbc supercharged 283 that will rev to the moon, 2004r, 4:11 posi rear)

15x8 with 4.5 back spacing it hink and 15x6 or 7 up front. this is my old baby from 2 years ago. 5 speed 5.0 swap. it just needed a door and body work
