When I was in college, a friend of mine bought a $100 car we primered black.  Then we would cause general ruckus.  All the ses, dings and mailbox marks could be repaired in 5 mins with a rattle can of walmart primer.

yeah as soon as i get some bucks... still waiting on this refrgerant job,... and im thinking the aic?? is bad,... cause when i stat the car, it jumps up to like 1800rpm, then goes right down to  below idle, and almost stalls,,,, then when i put it in gear,,,, and turn the steering wheel at the same time,.... it WILL stall...... i also have the a/c and smog pupm stuff to properly cap off........its the only thing not keeping the car RELIABLE.... so id really like to figure this out,.....another thing i was thinking,,, maybe its those salt n pepper connectors on the intake????? IDK    ill see you guys around.....



P.S. I LOVE THE ATTENTION MY CAR IS GETTTING!!!!! Im soooo happy just to drive it,,, even with the dash all apart and taken out....

OH and im really liking the primer loook too,... htinknig of going with a flat black,,,,, or satin black paint eventually......



And when people want me to race... i tell them no, cause the trans is blown,....(which it is) and i need totake it easy on her .casuse with the quad shock broke,.. the ass end is all over the place,...... just an update.....

Pull codes. The above problem would be anything from low fuel pressure, vacuum leak, to smog equipment acting up. How's it when cold (open loop) versus warm (closed loop)? When you start it up, what is it idling at in gear when cold and warm?

It isn't out of the ordinary for the rpm's to shoot up for a second when cranking a vehicle as it is doing its best to get running, along with all the inconsistencies that exist on a fresh fireoff - no vacuum, excess fuel, needing to start grabbing data from all sensors, etc. The near stalling though, that can be anything or multiple things combined. Codes are a must to point you in the right direction.

Yeah i got anothr couple of cement jobs with my stepdad,... we finished one today so were even for the car thing......... now i can focus more on a real job,.... and sing up my ecu/ and injectors........when the H.O. and trns are ready to go in,.... the motor is coming out,,(only takes me a few hours,....),,, and the new trans , and 50+hp is going in.......
HEY DOES ANYONE KNOW EXACTLY HOW MUCH hp IS GAINED WITH THE H.O. CONVERSION????? E7TE HEADS....
ALSO,.... DO THE GT40P'S COME ON ANY STOCK VEHICLES???? IF SO WHAT, CUASE I GET ANY HEAD FOR $30.............thanks

GT40P heads are the stock equipment on 97.5-2001 5.0 Explorers and Mountaineers. If you run them you will need headers specially made for the GT40P heads because they have a different spark plug angle than any other SBF head. The headers cost about $250 and are avaliable from FRPP. The headers interfer with the stock motor mount on the driver's side. The mount needs to be ground down or you have to get a set of Chucks mounts. If you are on a budget then the GT40Ps may not be such a good idea for you.....
88 Thunderbird LX: 306, Edelbrock Performer heads, Comp 266HR cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, bunch of other stuff.

Stock SO 5.0's are rated 150Hp in '86 & '87, dual exhaust versions in '88 at 155Hp... A full HO conversion with E7s is rated at 225Hp... You do the math...

BTW aftermarket headers and a free flowing exhaust system(think 2.5") is worth another 20HP... This is per MM&FF that dynoed a stock HO with something like 70K miles on it, and pulled 245Hp...

LOL,ive done enough homework on my car to know it had 155hp!!!! I just didnt know, if there was a SIGNIFICANT hp gain...obviously 70hp should feel  a HELLOVA better!!!!! now i cant wait!!!! and yeah ill be keeping the e7,s for now...

Not sure what ratio you have now..but later on, you can change the rear gear to say, 3.55 and make that HO feel like it has more than just 225 or so...

ill check the door tag tomarrow.....pretty soure its a trac-loc 8.8... but yeah dont know the ratio off hand...gottta do some homework!

you know you most likely wont have an 8.8 afaik the sports/XR7's came with 7.5 trac-locks
