MasscougarXr7's H.O. Conv./ engine bay "spruce --NEED iDLE HELP!!!!!

Well today i finally got to do some serious wrenching on the cat today..... I got my header panel and bumper cover off,...every thing disconnected/ unplugged,,,, Smog pump deleted, A/C deleted, The only thing i have left is starter wires, and exhaust... and shes ready to come out!!!!!!!!  I noticed when i cleared out the smog pump stuff, i have some rust turning to rot right in hte middle of the framerails on the front,...... so when the motor is out, ill be doing some metal repairs....also from my p/s pump being shot,, there is a HUGE amount of build up/ road grime on the drivers side of the engine bay......And i happened to notice the florpan, at the baes of the firewall is also starting to rust,...... any tips on what to coat these areas with when im done are greatly appreciated,....  Also if anyone needs a A/c compressor, or the ac radiator, mine are good, ill post pics if you want,,,, willing to trade for some small things or A/C eliminator bracket or whatever...... willing to give away if youre close enough..... Pics will be posted tomarrow, it started raining on me today, so i couldnt get the motor completly out...:mad:
Also,,, exhaust manifold to y-pipe bolts different sizes on your cars????? One of mine was a 16mm and the other was 13mm?????? WTF is that about????

Looks like its coming together man, your competition looks kinda silly (Not much of a Chevy guy) the chevy bowtie smack dab in the middle of the fake scoop is what makes it look so dumb to me. All depending on what he has done to his .vs. what you are doing to yours you should be okay.

Should be a fun swap. How are you going to fix the frame rail rot?
88 Thunderbird LX: 306, Edelbrock Performer heads, Comp 266HR cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, bunch of other stuff.

86xr7 project: its an old camaro hood scoop,.... and its not really fake.. at the time he blocked it off so water wouldnt leak into the engine,,,, but now the scoop has to come off, cause the air cleaner dont fit under the hood.....he basically just did what you see... its stock 305, eith 650cfm carb.... intake manifold.. and hedders... hes also throwing in a mild cam...

Thunderjet:  once the motor is out,..... ill know the full extent of the rot, and replace all metals that need replcing,,(im a welder, so i can handle just about anything)) and if i have any issiues... Daminc kows quite a bit!!!!!, also thinking about shaving the holes from the engine compartment, and hiding some stuff....

With a HO 5.0 you should be able to kick his 305's rear.

NOTE: Should doesn't = Will
