Never had a problem around here. doesn't matter if you broke a wrench, cracked a socket, chipped a pliers, they replace just like that.

it depends on who you get, rust is neglect, it says so in our rules and conduct for the craftsmen exhchange. it give the example of rust specificaly. something like that is serious neglect. but... depending on who you get we usualy dont care. you probley got some guy who knows nothing about tools or couldnt care less so he dicked you over. if you want, take a wire wheel to it and break it loose. like put it in a vice and spin it till it breaks free. if it breaks period thats fine to because now its broken, not just rusty. thats the main point of that rule. people were returning tools that were dirty, rusted, or worn. not stuff that broke on the job. and because of people like that, they made the rule.

I broke sockets, I shattered one socket, killed a socket wrench, broke a wrench and got NEW replacements for all without even a question asked.

Craftsman is the brand I have, and the above is the reason I have it.

Oh, and if you leave your tools out in the snow, or just plain out, you don't deserve a replacement. Heck, I clean my tools after each use.

:iagree: Besides, you CAN get a ratchet to work after it's been out in the snow. My father in law left one out and decided he was gonna get rid of it. I took it apart, cleaned EVERYTHING, oiled it, and put it back together. Works like a champ.

As far as returning tools to Sears I've never had any problems thus far.
