e brake cable help March 09, 2009, 09:33:49 PM On my 88 originally v6 car, about halfway down the chassis underneath there is a mechanism which connects two ends of the e-brake cable. From the factory it seems to have been "pressed" in. Well to make a long story short it fell out. Its broken and isn't going to stay.I need an inspection sticker tomorow and don't want anything hanging down. I thought of drilling a hole through the floor and the unit and bolting it to the bottom of the car. Anyone know what I'm tlaking about and have any ideas? There car does has some rust, but just the same I feel wierd about drilling holes in the car. Quote Selected

e brake cable help Reply #2 – March 10, 2009, 11:39:16 AM Its definately the whole unit that broke out. It looks like it was just pressed in. I thought of drilling through it (again) but there are bushings inside of it that the cable spins around that I don't want to screw up. Quote Selected
e brake cable help Reply #3 – March 11, 2009, 09:01:32 PM Well my solution was I drilled a hole from the botton up into the flooor. I took a long bolt and bolted the unit up. But two nuts on so one can't turn off. The unit rotates like it used to, so it seems okay.Just in case anyone ever has a simliar problem. Quote Selected
