I had to bend mine slightly and get creative with a mounting tab.  I'll post a pic later....

That Ebay one is the right one.I don't have one,only the dipstick itself.At least you know the problem now.

Would not having any dipstick holder at all make the engine lose compression?

It probably wouldn't lose compression, but you'd have a hell of an oil leak.

I've got a spare one on that engine that disappointed me so much. You can have it for the cost of shipping, which would probably be about $12 from Canada to you.

, i wish i wouldve known that before i bought one off of ebay for 25 (couldnt find one ANYWHERE around here) i really aprreciate the offer though, its real nice to see that someone isnt always trying to make a buck off of someone in need. :cool:

Yeah the autohole dipstick is a joke.  I had to sand it and get all the chrome off before it would fit in there.  And then it wasn't the right length and I think Claude fixed it up so it could be used.
84 TC 302 -5.0L/t5/7.5 locking rear and a 3.45 gear, Edelbrock Intake, Aluminum Heads, Edlebrock 65mm Throttlebody, Edlebrock Cam, 24lb injectors & MAS Air Sensor calibrated via chip,  BBK headers, Catback H pipe, Magnaflow lers :evilgrin:

yea, my problem was i was trying to put a front-mounted dipstick on the side, once i got the right one it was still kind of a pain in the ass cuz i didnt remember exactly what angle/side of the header it went in. i know realize it has to go EXACTLY the way it came out. Never thought it would be that frustrating.
