4.6 Oil Pan 1997 XR7

I am trying to remove my oil pan and am stuck.  I've disconnected everything discussed in the Helms and Haynes manuals and can't seem to lift the engin high enough to get the pan past the bellhousing.

The rear wheels are on the ground still.  Q:  If I lift the back to take weight off the rear suspension, will I change the geometry between the engine/trans and the crossmember so as to give me enough room to get the pan out.

It's driving me crazy.

nope. you have to drop the trans mount and let the tranny down that way. not sure if that will help you get the oil pan out though. i assume you have the engine mounts dis connected so the engine will have to be supported from above as to let it drop in the rear. otherwise its got nothing to pivot on.

Thanks, I'll look into that.  (I do have the mounts disconnected)
