Fuel Filter location?

where is the fuel filter located.  I looked on my desk and saw the new one i bought and just remembered I need to put it on.

my first hunch is possibly on the driver side in the rear under the right corner or under the fuel neck.

correct?  is it hard to get to?

the fuel filter on my car is on the passenger side, about 3/4 of the way back attached to part of the "frame".  If you look under you'll see it, there is  small bracket holding it there.

It's easy to get to. You should be able to change it in 10 minutes.

Don't forget to unplug the inertia switch and purge pressure from the lines, unless you like a face full o' fuel.

IE-

I assume its a 3.8L v6 and if so,,,,,,,,,,,
remove air cleaner cover
look for fuel pres test fitting on top of CFI driver side
remove black platic cap if still installed
push in the center pin and let the fuel bleed down.

If a 5.0, same deal but locate the test fitting on your fuel injector fuel rail.

Its not nessesary to unplug the inertia switch, just relieve the presure on the lines as already stated.

now proceed with filter change.

Isn't it a safer approach to unplug the inertia switch and run the engine until the pressure is relieved?

I don't see any reason to open the schrader valve on the fuel rail and get gas all over the engine.

That's what I do. Then I don't even have to open the hood to change the fuel filter :hick:

The fuel filter is on the bottom right in front of the rear passenger tire. I didn't know there was one under the hood...

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

No filter under the hood but by unpluging the inertia switch I don't have to open the hood to relieve the fuel pressure ;)
