I kno it may look a little silly to some, but i want to be able to put wide tires on it, without tubbing it out, and the front end could definately use the traction with my bb going in.. sorry if it looks like . the blueprint layout wasnt the best.....(white lines)

I kinda like the concept. I'd love to see a more refined picture.

What can I say? Widebody work usually doesn't include grilles, tail or headlights. It's just a protruding fender/quarter around the wheel-wells, but tapers back in to meet the stock front/rear clip and door locations.

Take a look at these two guys from two of the clubs I used to cruise with out in Edmonton. Their widebodies are about the best garage-built jobs I've ever seen.

I like the wide concept. It's one of the things I like about the non-fox body cougars. I don't like the look of not doing something with the doors though. It makes it look to added on.

Just how wide of tires/wheels are you wanting?

Folks have fit 315's in the rear of these things with no body mods.

Are you sure? SCCA Trans Am bodies (Mustangs, Camaro, Vettes, Oldsmobiles, Jags, etc.) were widened as much as 4 inches on each side all the way from nose to tail. The grill/headlights were stretched out to fit. Same in the tail. IMSA GTs ran with the same concepts.

Trans Am rules at the time stated the race car had to share the same roof as the "real" car, just sayin'.

That is one sweet mustang. The Mazda guy does nice work too, but I rarely like flares that big, including those.

re OP's question:  who knows? execution would affect my answer 100%.

I want to cut along the body lines just below the windows, and add about 6 inches to both sides,. then get a tailight resin kit  and mold  longer lights, then i need to find a ground fx kit and make that fit..and finally i want the end of the front fender by the door to be vented, maybe not functional but my mental picture is definately better than the one above. not bad for making it in paint tho..CHUCK>>>>>>>>>>as wide as possible, probably wont kno until its done,,, and its not a concept,,, this will be started next summer,, after my bb swap....

Not a bad idea just do a 2nd concept and when you do it the 2nd time add or change something if you want or just do it over and make it look better on the next art concept.

Those also look like complete composite bodies, sitting on custom chassis. I've yet to see a street mod. widebody that wasn't the flared kind I was talking about. And those headlights look like stickers. The Merkur has oem tails, but those were just moved out to the corner.

Yeah, the RX-7 is pretty extreme. It looks good with the proper wheels and rear on, though.
