Shaving weight

i have been thinking about trying to lighten my car up, but i dont know of any good places to start. im looking right now to be able to remove some weight without spending money, so any suggestions will be appreciated

gut the interior and remove the sound deadener. is it for the steet?

yes it is a daily driver. i was thinking removing the air conditioner and the stereo stuff because the only time its on is when there is someone else in the car with me, which isnt very often

Yeah the sound deadener is good for about 50 lbs(trunk also)other then free stuff passenger seat weighs a lot

remove the carpeting itself if ya want.

spare tire all the sound insulation then i laid the carpet back down and put all the panels back w/no insulation behind them.
Anything else unnecessary or what you can deal w/out ex.air pump and A/C

there was definatly a thread on this with the weight loss in pounds of each part. i cant find it though

there is insulation on top of the front splash guards, only a lb or 2 but still something. Convert to manual seats, pull rear seat, sound deadener above the headliner quad shocks, gut the trunk, switch to base door panels if you dont have them already. tubular k member if you what to spend the $

oh and pull the motor that will shave off a few hundred lbs real  easy:mullet:

Manual seat tracks saves a lot of weight.If it's still for the street,and you'll be driving it a lot,keep the stereo.It's not that much weight.Sometimes a few comfort items can go a long way,and removing them is more miserable in the long run,and not worth the effort when it's driven a lot.

I removed the sound deadening tar and threw it on the scale. It was roughly 42 or 43 pounds.
