my sons first spam

yep, he's been stained

He's 8 so having waited so long to be a winner of the lunchable contest, he finally pealed back the sticker on the box.  The winning sticker said
"here's your passcode to enter"
Visit http://www.yourfreesong.com and enter it.  dont share it with anyone else,,remeber you must be over 18.,,,ect ect bla bla bla.
thiscode may only be used once so make sure to save your free song.

now thinking of it being a Nick sponsered product and how excited he was,, i went there.

I followed the instructions but it gave me a choice, to play from its location or save to disk.

i thought,, chance would like to listen to it again so lets put it in a folder which i named "Chance" under my documents.  This site required no personal info other than my email.  The only time i typed this word "chance" was creating the directory.

started to download and for gods sake that puppy was too much for dial up.  I told chance we'd get to it later when the computer wasnt hogged by daddy job shopping.

the very next hour or so,, i get an email.........

from Joe Inman,,,,,,,subject- chance has a friend.

Im like wtf?  it trew me off cause it was not the typical spam,, it named someone in my house!!!!!!!!!!!  i did not open it up but finally i did when i showed the wife.

well,, here is the text in the mail........

Hi!

My details:

Screenname: Erica1976
Age: 28
Status: Single
Gender: F

You can reach me here:

the link took us to a not so child like event,,,,,,,get the point.

Tieing up all this together, i see that the tv channel Nick sponsers products and had control of this contest.  Im outraged and would like some support on this because im not really sure of the scope of effort on my part to make something happen.

If anyone would like specifics,, email me.

scott

wonder  if there is a federal site to turn them in.

if you are ambishous (sp?), since everyone in the world sues, you could probably too.

Thats complete BS, I hate spam, its should be a federal offensive to do it, for one thing it usually involves shagual material exposing it to younger children. Or it causes your computer to screw up. Lately on ICQ every 5 minutes I get spam. Makes me soooooo mad.

Butif I were you look for sites that you can report them too.

You should send a email to Bill O'reilly, he has a national audience and seems to have a great effect on large companies and there marketing practices. I believe he got pepsi to pull there ads using a rapper named "ludicris" and nickoloen to pull a show with rossane that talked about gay and lesbian relationships (kids program) Anyway, another person is Glen Beck, he has a talk show as well, get either one of them to talk about this on the air and you will have thousands of supports behind you. Right, wrong, or indifferent, the masses can have an effect on large companies. Just do a search on Glen Beck or Bill O'reilly and you will find there contact info.

Not surprising that that's what people would say. Amazing how much these guys can get away with and still have people support them. Oh well.. not really my problem, Fox News is banned in this house.. so I'll never have to see or hear anything the pervert has to say.

awww,, come on man,, dont be that passive and so liberal that a contest sponsered by Lunchable should not investigate.
Here is what i expect.......
in writting a letter from them saying whatever they think will smooth out the edges with me.

oh,, and by the way,, its probably because of outsourcing that hey lost control of thier little contest,,, true enuff?

What does an investigation have to do with a frivolous lawsuit? One can be done without the other. Also, what is it about disliking frivolous lawsuits that makes someone "liberal"?

i guess that part is for me,,,

it goes along with all that open minded  thats distoryed our nations ethics and then we come to where we are now.  Thats just my opinion so if theres a reply to it,, i wont respond.,, thats a totally different topic,,,please,, no flames

The whole message was for you.

I see no connection between "all that open minded ", as you put it, and your assertion that disliking frivolous lawsuits is somehow liberal. I know people all across the political landscape that dislike frivolous lawsuits, including myself.

You say you don't want any flames, yet you use rhetoric that could be described as flame-baiting. In this day and age, it's almost considered an insult to call someone a liberal. (and many times it IS used as an outright insult) How is he "passive and liberal" for not wanting to see more frivolous lawsuits? I don't recall seeing him say that nothing should be done about this, period.

I support the notion of SOMETHING being done about this issue. Negative publicity, maybe even an investigation over it.. but if it's just used as an excuse to run off to a courtroom where some John Edwards-type (you remember him, don't ya? That liberal trial lawyer-turned-vice presidential candidate..) is the only one who's going to get anything out of it, and you're gonna mudsling at anyone who dislikes frivolous lawsuits, well that's when I call foul.

I have no intention of flaming you.. and I've probably erased six or seven different lines after re-reading them and realizing they could be considered flames regardless of intent.. but I have a feeling you're going to take this as a flame no matter what I say.

man I'm the farthest thing from libral. I love US, I love George W. bush, I have nothing negative about this country. I'm against gays/lesbians. I could give to squirts about saving trees. I believe we should make a 18 hole golf course outta iraq and the rest of them.

I just think its BS that companies sell our information, SELL OUR INFO, to other advertisers who waste my day trying to figure out how to delete it.

Call me what you want, I think spam should be illegal.
