No locking your keys in the car June 08, 2008, 11:45:29 AM The 08 exploder has a feature I would like to see a diagram on.When your key is in the ignition, you can lock all your doors but in a bout one second, all doors unlock by themselves.Anyone have a diagram on this circuit? Dunno if the GM has that feature, since it has a door keypad I'll guess not... My sisters Murano has a "start button"... As long as the key is inside the car(in her purse for ex) it will start... No locking your keys in the car Reply #2 – June 08, 2008, 11:30:18 PM Sorry the Ford things sound good for the most part but theres got to be some downside to it but it might be fun project and it would be cool if you got it wired up.nope GM has this cool thing in the newer HHRs if you car will not start the keys are stuck in the ignition which means if your at barret-jackson and your Grandma left the lights on the car better hope to good you did not leave anything worth something in the car while you go find some jumper cables. it was a rental car and after the company sent someone to jump the car the radio would not work and the car died at the next stop and they guy who helped us just jumped another car right outside and so i stopped him to jump the car again.Sorry off topic but i did ask the GM guys at the show in the front room why GM would be so smart and make it where you can not lock up your stuff and go look for help. Too technical for me...The car does ding a lot more with the keys in or lights on. You make a good point though but I like the feature. I stewed on it in my head and thouht I would ask how the wire in the key switch cables out and to what. The only way i found out it had the feature was when i went to lock the doors upon getting out and they unlocked on thier own preventing me from screwing up. Quote Selected

BTW my '07 GS doesn't have this feature, guess they are cutting costs everywhere... Also has no under hood light...EDIT... I checked my GM and it's as you say, using the door lock button and door open, it almost immediately unlocks the doors with key in ign... So yes it has the feature Scott is referring to(I was manually locking it) ... IF you shut the door with key in ign, it will not lock on first try using the 7/8-9/0 buttons... Been tooling around in Grand Marquis' since '93(when I got a used '86 with 45K mi)... Prior I had a Diesel Olds and a '78 3.3 liter V6 Chevy Malibu... The '86 brought me out of the dark ages, as I bought a '87 2.3 Stang a month later and in '94 got the 5.0 Stang(all long gone)... I know darn well that circuit is far more complicated. However, to mod our cars,, could the above diagram result in the below operation and be such a simple mod? It sure does to me but asking other doctors opinions : )The key reminder has continuity with the key in.The added door switch has continuity w/door open.these above circuits are in series.The results are:Door open / Key in=You open your door and ALL the doors auto unlock on thier own.You hit the lock button (keys in) and instantly they unlock on thier own incase you lock them while driving to be safe.Sound correct? All this for the cost of a generic aftermarket N.O. door jam switch / time / s wire. Quote Selected
