Differential cap gasket...

Hello!
I got a FelPro differential cap gasket and I thought it would be a nice Saturday project to replace it (or rather finally put the gasket there) as the RTV gasket it leaking (guess I squizeed it too much when I was changing fluid last time).
I was wondering if I should set the gasket on RTV or simply remove old RTV put the new gasket and tighten the nuts without RTV?
Thanks!

it should seal fine without sealer if both surfaces are clean,I like to use a gasket shellac on mine like permatex indian head glue, or permatex hi tack.
