5 lug conversion

Ok, I know I can use the lincoln rotors or have my rotors redrilled but what else is needed to convert the front to 5 lug? Btw this is on a 87 turbo coupe.

So all I do is take my old rotor off and put on the lincoln rotor and presto? Don't i need the part with the actual "5 lugs" for the rotor to go onto or does the lincoln rotor already have the 5 lugs built into it? Thats where I'm stumped.... :dunno:

for the front, the rotors already have the lugs. just need some sn95 axle shafts and mark disks for the back

That won't work on a TC. The cheapest option is to re-drill the stock TC discs to 5 lug and open up the hub as well. That or convert the entire rear disc setup to that of an SN-95 Mustang.

I used Continental axle shafts and brakes, on my TC axle. :)

"for the front, the rotors already have the lugs"

Sweeeeeeeeeeet. Thats what someone needed to tell me along time ago. And for the rear I don't have to worry about any of that because my other turbo coupe is already converted so i'm just swap the whole rear end. It has disc brakes too. Should I box my control arms while I have it out? Just to hold me off until I can afford the che package of course. If I do decide to box them should I do the uppers or lowers or both? Thanks guys.

i was always told the lincoln rotors won't work with the stock spindle... i have an issue.  I need to convert my 84 4 lug fronts to 5 lug... i already swapped the rear end from a lincoln.  If the lincoln rotors will work, i know where i can get some used for 6 dollars apeace.  /me saves money

You need to swap to the TC spindle, just like if you were doing the 11" brake swap, then the lincoln rotors bolt on. :)

Don't take this for fact, but I believe that '84 only Mark VII rotors will work as they are smaller than the later Mark brakes and do not have ABS so they are also a lot cheaper, but as long as your switching over anyway, I would spend the money and go with the bigger brakes.

How big are the bigger brakes? I thought they were all 11" :dunno: . The abs won't matter, all it is, is a ring on the inside of the rotor. :)

That little ring on the inside costs a fortune,  so if you buy new dont buy abs....  One day while working at the zone I pulled a rotor out for my cougar and a rotor out for a 88 ford ranger 2wd.. remarkably the same.. the bearing races looked alike but i never measured didn't have time..  the ranger rotor was about an 1/8 of an inch larger all the way around.  the only thing that looked to present a problem was the hub.. it was around a 1/2 larger than the cougar.. i dont know if the caliper and pads would clear it.....

11" Lincoln rotor w/o/abs-55.99    at the 'zone. :dunno:  :)
The biggest problem with the Lincoln rotors, is some of the newer wheels won't fit over the hub all the way, without some mods. I got my Mach one wheels to fit w/ caps by moding the hubs as shown....

You can get brand new, stock 10" 5-lug rotors here: http://www.completebrakeservice.com/

They're about $60 each...several people have reported them to be of great quality.

guys he is doing 5-lug on a TC my guess 87-88 so if thats the cace he hase the "bigger" Brakes  so yes all he needs to do is the rotor swap. if it's a 86 and lower then yeah he needs to do the spindle swap or he can use the ranger rotors like it says on Erics site but you need to have them shaved down to 10 inch  not worth it every time u need rotors .
