Transmission solution for my TC

All this time I've planned to put a 5 speed behind the 5.0 when I get my butt in gear and drop the engine in. But I've changed my thoughts and want an AODE. So my simple route will be a 94/95 GT Auto computer. I'll have Maf and means to control the AODE. Not much of a thread.. but I'm bored and thought I would see what people thought..

Are the AOD-E's the ones you can electronically shift? Or are those the later 4R70W or whatever? Paddleshift ftw.

According to Mitchell OnDemand, 94 and 95 5.0 and 94 3.8 Mustangs had either AODE's or AODE-W's (never heard of an AODE-W). 95 3.8 and 96 4.6 Mustangs had 4R70W's.

According to this diagram they're both wired the same (I say this because Mitchell only has one diagram for 95-96 Mustang trannies and mentions both in the diagram header):

AODE = close ratio 2.40 1st(same as AOD)... 4R70W Wide ratio, 2.84 1st...

Bad idea... Idk anything about automatic transmissions but I do know that the 94/95 Mustang EEC system is horrible (and not swapable with 89-93 units - different wiring). I think I read it was an attempt at better emissions but a bad one. Appearntly even basic mods like intake or exhaust and suddenly youre fighting to get the car to run even halfway decent!

this is true! 94/95 mustang are EEC-V. you would need alot of wiring harness' to get it to work, or buy the $400+ Baumanator controller.

another option is a full manual valvebody. i have this with a transbrake in my 4R70W. OD and lock-up will be on the same toggle switch.

The 94/95 EECs aren't horrible. They just require someone who knows what they're doing to tune them properly.
