There's so many different Mustang names I can't keep up with them anymore. All these different titles and they ditched the sweetest one. Cobra. When will they learn to leave names alone... They'll probably resurrect the Thunderbird name for a Hybrid Minivan.

even though it looked like a sticker & wheel job at most...

:dunno:

Ding ding ding!! We have a winner! That's EXACTLY what 99.9% of "Shelby's" are.

Of course Roush is worse, he doen't do anything but release his name on the car, his workers design and slap on a bodykit, and they call it double price.

They have all sold out at one point or another. Roush built a FWD Cougar. Shelby built god knows how many limited edition vehicles.

If anything I would like to see a come back of the dealer back vehicels. I.E. Tasca Ford, Grandspalding Dodge, Yenko, ......

Any if they make another limited production car they need to make the Parnelli Jones Mustang.

There is a Saleen Focus, but I don't know anything about the Cougars.

Saleen DID build the PJ Mustang, it's a rip-off. $55K BASE price for a 400HP sticker job that has a stroker just to say 302 on the fenders. Don't get me wrong, I like the car, but FIFTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS!!?!?!??!!

I completely agree but it is a different twist on the Mustang. It give tribute to where it is due. Unlike most of the other limited edition cars. The price tag on any new car is just crazy.

I drove a new 07 Cobalt as a loaner. The only option it had was a CD player. It had manuel mirrors, seats, windows, locks, no ABS. It was a stripper model the sticker was $15,000. IMO nothing with that few options is worth that.

Your paying for a name most times. Maybe some wheels and stickers. I'd like a new " Shelby GT500", but I'm not going to wet my pants just because it's a Shelby. I want it because of the car, not the name. Thats what matters to me IMO

Well the only reason i ask here is because i am signed up with a forum for the newer cats but when i introduced myself all i got were comments like this.

"All you need is lowering springs, black wheels with polished lip, and a kit"

thats when i decided that team neco was a bad choice.

The reason i am asking for the specs for the Roush is i want to make a replica out of my 99 once im clear of debt.

And sorry for thread jacking.

I'll ask the other members of the local Shelby Club what they think at the meeting this month...

As requested...1999 Roush Cougar Stage 2 specs, straight from the brochure:

CORE COMPONENTS
Side Skirts • Front Fascia (includes Fog Light Inserts) • Rear Wing • Rear Valance with Polished Stainless Steel Exhaust Tip • Floor Mats (with Embroidered Roush Logo) • Window Banners & Decals • Roush Suspension System (includes Performance Springs and Rear Sway Bar) • Tuner Alloy Wheels • Performance Rated Tires

OPTIONAL COMPONENTS
Dual Polished Stainless Steel Free-Flow Exhaust Tips • Interior Trim Kit • Roush CNC Billet Machined Pedals

The interior trim kit was a simulated grey carbon fiber. The standard polished exhaust tip had the Roush logo engraved on the top; I understand the earlier ones had a different logo than the later ones. I believe one could get any '99 Cougar color in the Roush package. Most of the parts are still available directly from Roush to build your own.

So the Roush PERFORMANCE Cougar had no PERFORMANCE items?? 150 Lbs worth of JC Whitney add-on stuff and only a set of LOWERING springs and a swaybar? That's lame. Seriously lame.

Then again the 84 Shelby Charger had a 107HP n/a 2.2L 4-banger in a FWD that wouldn't beat my truck down a 1/4 mile. At least it's springs were stiffer instead of just shorter!

There is a new edge cat at my JY that looks ALOT different. What do these Roush cats look like? I'll see if I can snag a pic.

The problem is with half of the cars he's selling all you are getting is the name, not the car. You pay for it to say Shelby on the side, not have any Shelby under the hood.
