Shelby GT500 Super Snake Reply #15 – April 30, 2007, 06:51:00 PM Quote from: stuntmannick;143872Yea, placing your name on limited production 600-725hp mustangs = complete deterioration of the Shelby name. Oh yea...itz a shellbi yo...The 600+hp cars aren't the problem. But if you had actually read any of my posts you'd have picked up on that. It's also getting really annoying that you can't say boo against the almighty Carol Shelby without tieing yourself to a smoking stake. The guy is falible (see above). Trust me, I knew the dangers of what I was saying, but the guy is going overkill.Compare apples to apples. Take a look at a Ford Mustang GT from '66 and compare it to the GT350H rental from the same year. Now make the same comparison with today's cars. What's the difference? It just seems like he's lost the mission.btw, those K-Shelby's were killer fast compared to the stock Chryslers.Everything in moderation, folks. *edit*As for Reeves Calloway, how many cars does he produce at any given time? I think the max has only ever been two. Usually coupe and convertible. After that it's just options. The same for Hennessey. All of his different nameplates are for different levels of output. You don't see a Calloway, Lingenfelter, or Hennessey dedicated to a new stripe colour. Quote Selected

Shelby GT500 Super Snake Reply #20 – April 30, 2007, 08:47:20 PM well compared to the v6 dakota my dad has, thats 318 GOES. Its a light quick truck, hell the 318 in it self is a quick motor, my moms jeep has one, i have to watch myself driving lol i like to sink my foot in it to much. Now the jeep pulls ahrder then the dakota, and the dakota has nothing on my lincoln, but is quick for what it is that better? Quote Selected
Shelby GT500 Super Snake Reply #21 – May 01, 2007, 12:37:20 AM I agree with oldraven except I feel the "Shelby" name has been tainted for a long, LONG time. 107 HP carb'd non-turbo Omni's are not performance cars. He also made thousands and thousands of each model. There are very few Shelby's that are "rare" and most of those are real race cars, not his street stuff sold to John Q. Public. Do some reading:http://www.xmission.com/~dempsey/shelby/sheldodg.htmhttp://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/showthread.php?p=97283http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_Omni#GLHhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carroll_Shelbyhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shelby_American_vehiclesThere's also Shelby grilling spices, a Shelby boat, Shelby wheels for Audi's in the 80's, etc, etc.I also feel Ford has gone wayyyy overboard on the stickered up Mustangs. The GT-CS and Shelby GT are jokes that exist purely for profit. Why pay $35K for a 325HP Mustang when for $5K less you can have a 400HP GTO with an extra gear, IRS, and 90 more Ft/Lbs?? The "aftermarket" Mustang guys are even worse. The Parnelli Jones Mustang for $65K (Only 400HP) is the worst!! Quote Selected

Shelby GT500 Super Snake Reply #25 – May 01, 2007, 09:14:39 AM It's rather obvious that both Ford and Carroll Shelby are trying to milk every last cent from his name before he kicks off. This "partnership" is much to the benefit of Shelby while he's still alive. Once he's gone, Ford can tout the nostalgia aspect for many, many years. From a marketing point of view it's a win-win situation. But that's the key word, isn't it..."marketing". We can thank that ass-goblin J Mays for that. He's got his head so far up Shelby's backside that he'll probably never see daylight again.Ol' CS doesn't help things, either, that cranky old fart. It's one thing to reminisce about the past. It's another to never stop reminding people of things you did 40 years ago. This dude has no modesty, no humility whatsoever. I also find it extremely amusing that he went after the AC Cobra replica companies only after they started becoming successful and essentially beating CS at his own game. Oh that's right, he doesn't like to lose, so he's going to sue. Pffft. Factory Five FTW!!!!eleven!!1!1!BTW, there's a guy here in town that has an '06 California Special AND just bought an '07 GT 500 coupe. Now that he saw the GT 500KR, though, he's offing the California Special to his brother and will make room for the KR, if conditions permit. It's hook, line and sinker for Shelbys now. Then again, being that it's the only muscle car available new, I suppose to him it doesn't matter whose name is on the car. And it's not like I'm not going to ask for a ride in them or anything. Shelby GT500 Super Snake Reply #26 – May 01, 2007, 10:17:54 AM I paid $26,255 for my 2005 Mustang GT. Add: $450 Jba Headers $550 Intake, computer tuner and tune $279 Lower control arms $379 Stainless steel ler kit. VERY LOW 13 second car.Now add $4,500 for the supercharger and I'm deep in the 12's.The Shelby GT STARTS at $36,000+ for what is essentially my car plus $2600 in performance parts and $2000 (I'm being generous) in body glitter for cars. I like my way better. I believe I have about $4,000 left over......That's enough for a REALLY beefed up AOD and a slightly used centrifigal supercharger for the Cougar. One thing I do like is the hood on the Shelby GT-H, but that's $800 in bare primer without paint! Shelby GT500 Super Snake Reply #27 – May 01, 2007, 10:38:07 AM John paid $31,900 out the door (tax, tag, title included) for his 2005 GTO. Ran 13.34@108 dead stock down to the paper air filter.I like what you did too though, regular GT, mod as seen fit. Screw Shelby and mark-ups. Quote Selected

Shelby GT500 Super Snake Reply #29 – May 01, 2007, 11:09:11 AM I've seen a couple of the Shelby Dakotas, I forgot about them. Last one I saw was selling for some stupid amount, even though it looked like a sticker & wheel job at most... Quote Selected
