New Headliner Installed

well the weather finally got warm enough so that I could install my new headliner. All went well ,but I do have a problem, there are two small areas that did not take to the glue.when the weather gets warm again,I will be pulling it back out and fixing it.

I had mine professionally redone. Looks amazing, they redid my sun visors too. They also dyed my seats, the tops had sunfaded a little bit. I need to get pics. Now only if my motor ran as good as this car looks haha.

$435? Wow. The guy who did my seats wants $235 to redo my headliner and sun visors (I have to bring them to him though). It'll get done, well after I'm done spending money on engine parts for awhile.

Holy . I pay $75 to get a headliner redone if I take it out of the car and bring it to the shop. Another $35-50 for the visors. This is 1983-86 style.

BTW, for those that have had a 1987-88 headliner redone, what exactly was the whole process on that? I've got an '88 headliner in my collection and I can't figure for the life of me what a shop would do to change that material on a molded headliner. It's totally different than the earlier style. Hmmm...perhaps that's why the cost is so much...

map lights....lol. this car is as simple as it gets, thats what I love about the older cars.I wish they still made them this simple................they kinda did away with the backyard machanic when they started getting all fancy with these cars.

I meant $35.00,not "435.00".I pushed the "4" instead of the "$".I took the old board,he sed and cleaned and installed the new material,I re-installed it in my car.$35.00 is really a good deal.

Eric, the molded headliner is easy.Just peel off the old material, get a brush to gently se off the old foam that's left on,then spray on the adhesive on it,spray adhesive on the headliner material (the back,of course),wait a minute,GENTLY and CAREFULLY apply the new headliner material to the board being VERY CAREFUL to prevent wrinkles, roll it over the edges just a little and trim off the excess material.Let it dry,re-install it.No worries.Again,it cost me $35.00 to have it done at a shop, which,is cheaper than buying the material and adhesive and doing it yourself.I did one before. It wasn't hard, but I spent almost twice as much doing it myself.Hope that helps you out.

Just a update on this. I took the headliner back out, because it was sagging in spots.I went wrong, by not putting enough adhesive in these areas.Just a heads up,dont be shy with the adhesive when you apply it.you dont want to soak it so much, that it seeps thru, but you do want to be sure to put plenty on it.
