*BUZZ*!!!!!!

Try again.

86-88 Tbird/Cougar 7.5's will not work with the Mustang axles....

You can swap the entire rear axle assy from the SN-95 Mustang if you like and have the same width axle  to axle , but the axles will not swap into the wider 87 7.5 housing.

That is news to me.

Bearing areas don't match up?

IIRC that's one of the issues covered in the threads that touched on this whole issue.  The 3/4" may not be an problem, but most likely it is.

The 86-88 Tbird 7.5 housing are wider....and thus the bearings are in a different spot than the  others.

willywags....there is a search feature on this board.....it works....

I thought that the axle housing of the sn95 was the same width as the 86-88.  Infact i slid my sn95 axles into my old 88 housing and they seem to fit fine...

Nope....the 86-88 Tbird 7.5 housings are 3/4" wider per side than the Mustang and early Tbird 7.5's and the 8.8's.

The axles will slide in....
