Quick and sorta easy answer is..... Get a 87-88 T/c rear. It has both trac-loc and better gears on top of being an 8.8" and having disk brakes

Welcome to the board!

Might as well go for the 5 lug too!  I did the swap on my 84 bird using machined front rotors and a lincoln mark vii rear end.  The lincoln rear is alot easier to find.  Just don't plan on using the e-brake with it.

For the front rotors I bought them from Complete Brake Services.  Excellent quality and it came with everything i needed right down to the wheel bearings and dust cap.  However you'll need a new cotter pin.

Also you should post up some pics of your ride!
Anyway, here's the info you want.  http://www.coolcats.net/tech/
Just about anything you can think of is in there.

I like your profile... "would get ride of wife before t-bird".  That's the greatest!  You definitly belong here.  Pull up a seat and enjoy.
