New Tire question

Yeah, but again, I simply don't have the money for "good" tires yet. I can probaly baby her till spring and save up for good ones though. Not like I can drive it now with no carb on it right. Now another question. Should I get 2 sets of OK tired ( for both sets of wheels) or one good set of tires for one set of wheels?

keep junk tires for stupid stuff, and good ones for driving,a nd ocasional stupid stuff. thats what i have to do with my stang, i NEED bigger rear tires so it won't spin so easily, and im keeping the stock rims from the stupid stuff. i think my car has 215's all the way around, i would love to stick 275's under it but not sure if they are gonna fit

I was going to suggest the Tire Rack, but Chuck beat me to it. The web site is pretty user friendly, and there are lots of buyers' reviews on the tires they have available. I spent a lot of time there when I was researching tires for my 280ZX. The price I got on a set of BF Goodrich Comp TA's was less expensive than the local Walmart.

I buy all my tires from Tirerack.com.

If you can only afford two at a time then get two at a time. But spending $300 on tires in not a waste. Especially when they are considered to be the most important part of a car. Sometimes you can get a good set of used tires through your local reseller. Sometimes.

Well,I ordered my 17x9 Cobra R wheels,and I was going to order them with tires mounted and balanced.On E-bay I found a great deal on 4 new tires.Two 245/40 17's,and two 255/40 17's.They cost me a little over $260.00 shipped.Z rated Continental tires (Continental is the brand,not the car).They use that brand on a lot of the new cars at the Ford dealership.I ended up saving a couple of hundred dollars buying them that way instead of already monuted.Look around,and like it was stated above,if you can only buy two at a time,then do it that way.Do it right the first time,and you won't have to go back and spend even more money doing it a second time.

I shop for all my tires on tirerack.com because you can compare brands and the site explains all the terminology well. Then I buy or order the tires at my local Discount Tire because they will price match TireRack if you print out the price quote from TireRack.

Nope.

Stay away from spoogeho Ecstas, BFG Radial T/As, Sumitomos, and ALL Goodyears. The spoogehos and BFGs will last forever, the Goodyears will last a year. But they all have horrible traction. And every model of Goodyear is expensive as hell.

Get the Futuras. Cheapest tire around, good looking tread and sidewall design too (if you get the "more" aggressive model). Plus they hook up as good as some of the drag radials. Great tirewear, all around excellent tire.

You will have good look with Bridgestones, Firestones, Pirellis, and Yokohamas too, but you will pay a lot more.
