Re: what do you do for a living? Reply #15 – January 14, 2005, 06:36:19 PM Work and school.I'm majoring in Civil engineering/Network Administration/MBA (the MBA major may overshadow the Civil Engineering). Yeah, I'm a glutton for punishment. But I love to study math and science, plus if I get the MBA I have an almost guaranteed 6 figure/year job secured for me at the company I work for now (so they say anyway). At work I maintain the server of a mobile delivery system and equiptment for a major retail chain in the Northeast. Re: what do you do for a living? Reply #16 – January 14, 2005, 06:52:09 PM I started as a mechanic at a Saturn/Saab/Isuzu dealer in '93 where I went through a four-year GM training program called ASEP and became a Master Tech specializing in automotive electronics, switched to a full-line GM dealer in '99, then upfitting and repairing cop cars and police equipment in 2002, and now in addition to cop cars I started a company that manufactures and sells auto electrical products (including the sequential turn signals, LED emergency vehicle lighting and wigwag flashers). I sell these products off my website and through ebay, amd I now make more doing that than I do at my job :ies: Quote Selected

Re: what do you do for a living? Reply #26 – January 15, 2005, 03:50:29 PM Wow. My jobs suck. I guess I should have a better career in place by age 21, but I don't. My "main" job is working at a gas station/convenience store, yep. The "what not to become" of every high school teacher's lecture. All I really do is run the register and other menial retail-ish tasks. My second job is through school. I go to school full time, chasing an IT degree, as well as work there when my class schedule permits. I'm a "computer training assistant" but I end up doing a lot more than that, really. The main premise of this job is to assist in computer training seminars for faculty and staff at Youngstown State. In other words, I help nearly computer illiterate old people point and click thier way to temporary computer proficency. However I also end up setting up class evaluation webpages, sending out emails to each person who took the class, collecting the data, importing it into a database, running reports on the data. I also act as a "Tech Support" for the entire Human Resources department.Y'all can probably guess which job pays more, it's not hard to figure out. Quote Selected
