I work at a company called Konrad Marine. We manufacture comercial grade stern drives for many applications. One of our biggest customers is the navy but we sell many drives to high performance race boats also. I work in the engineering department doing most of the enginnering drafting and some basic design work also. Next fall I will be heading back to school to get an engineering degree hopfully.

Heh.. my old man woulda chewed your ear off for even mentioning stern drives. He couldn't stand 'em. He liked inboards, loved outboards, and hated stern drives. Something about the seals falling apart and the boats sinking. *shrug* I don't know if it stemmed from his time working for Mercury Marine at the test center down the road from us.. never really paid attention to the ranting, just remembered it happening. (personally, I'm neutral to the whole thing.. never really got into boats to begin with)

It's a shame he died when he did.. he had just picked up a pure terror of a boat with a big ol' Merc on the ass end, and he was like a kid in a candy store with that thing.
I was just reminiscing about that boat the other day.. which is why I remembered his rantings when you said what you did. OK, end of hijack. :D

I work As an armed security officer back home. I supervise about 60 officers on any given night. However, since June of 2004 I've been on active duty with the Army. Actually, I'm writing this on a Military computer! hahah I've been in Iraq for 2 months now.

Tom,, i have one hell of a source for tubes since i got my phillco floor model up and running (radio that is) with a 78 turntable.
i think we talked about this once already and you did not have some tubes i needed. that old store, "Grand Junction" on rosemont and va bch blvd would have if they were still around.

yeah i rember when i worked at riverview ford and i was do'n sub fram bolts, rear brakes, and front spring isolators. some of these dam cars just fall apart. what dealership you work'n at?

hmh. For some reason, I thought I'd already posted in here. Guess that was another board. :wtf:

Anyway, I'm a Mechanical/Architectural Drafter. :) For the past year and a half I've been designing/drafting Hydraulic cylinders for the oilfield, which are made in house by our machine shop. Pretty cool stuff. Some of the five stage cylinders would blow your mind. Some get over 28" bore. http://www.rhkhydraulics.com

Before that, I'd worked on Electrical drafting for Lucent Tech., Aircraft repair and retrofitting manuals on the F-18 Hornet project for SPAR Aerospace (international contracts), and I worked out load permit drawings for a Heavy Hauler Transportation company, moving modules north to the oil refineries.

I've also designed some homes for friends and family, as well as the new building for the Transportation company, (Garage for tractors/trailers as well as a new two storey office portion).

Where should i start currently unemployed moving to a new city but i have experience in aftermarket parts sales and install, heavy equipment operation i learned to operate before i could drive, finishing concrete, went to college for two years for Athletic Training basically pre-med dropped out due to lack of funds, and was a football coach and ref.

Guess Im a little late on this thread but whatever. Im graduating this May with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Engineering Management from Old Dominion Univ. I currently looking for employment so I can quit my part time job at a Machine Shop. Ive got an interview friday with a company called Norfolk Southern Corp, but Im also looking at Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, and Amsec. I guess whoever offers more $$$ I will go for... :D Cant wait to make some REAL money lol.

Norfolk Southern, the railroad corp? What's the position? I used to work for a company that was subcontracted by them and CSX for rail yard transportation. Anything involving work in a rail yard (I can only guess what they would have for an Electrical Engineer) is VERY dangerous work. I can't even remember the number of life and limb incidents that I remember hearing about in the 2 years I worked for that company. The second two choices (L-M and N-G) would be at the top of my list (as I'm sure there are plenty of those in VA and D.C.). Anyway, good luck hunting! When I graduate I'm probably going to end up with the Turnpike/ bridge-tunnel authority of New Jersey and New York. Seems to be the only real promising path for a Civil Engineer major around my area.

Good Job !!!
Now look into the PMP certification program, self study with an exam at the end.
Your more marketable in that industry right about now.
I never could figure out the differences in the A.S.S and the B.A. degree in that field though.

I went to ECPI,, wish i went on to ODU or UVA for a B.A.

I am a full time Aviation maintenance student..........i already have an associates in aviation maintenance rom another college.....looking to get my bachelors and my A&P certification........i also just did my level 1 michellin tire expert exam.....and maybe get level 2 later on.............im not working this semester, but last semester, i worked for the college, repairing and maintaning cessna's and pipers and beechcraft...etc........i have no time to work.....too much classes.......but i hope to graduate soon and make me some money! :)

i hope to change my profile here real soon from looking for work to working as a (insert occupation) its been way too long of a layoff. I cant seem to understand how we've gotten by this long.
