It's really NOT THAT DIFFICULT to do right. It's just a PITA.

Agreed.
I would much rather change my heater core again over changing the motor mounts on a 5.0. Hell, I would consider changing the core over messing with the high-profile door panels. :D
It's not that hard to do.

I personally can't wait to have to change mine. I enjoy taking things apart and it is something that I can do too.

Though I love my Rangers location oh so good!

To my mind it would be much easier to remove the dash than to hack up your firewall and hvac box... .

wow,,
you (jncocowboyx) said "firewall"
I said "DUCT", confussed?

You (Dogcharmer) said "hack up your firewall and hvac box"
I said "CUT three sides of a rectangle in in the duct only.

this kinda talk is exactly how some of those congressmen get elected and you cant figure out how.

Im not a hack jobber nor an english major but,,, I do,,, say what i mean and mean what i say.

Crystal, a long time ago on the old coolcats board , said she was able to remove the glove box and cut three sides of a rectangle into the hvac box.  This created a door to which she was able to slide the core out.
I have looked at this method a couple times and as she said,, its possible but a tight fit for your hands and to manage the core out / back in.  She also mentioned that she used duct tape to close the door back. Its possible though.

Meh.  If you're thorough with where all the screws & bolts go, it's not a bad job to do.  I'd rather do another heater core than lift an 8.8" rear into place by myself. That's for sure.

People ALWAYS make a huge big deal about the heater core and it's not the worst job in the world.  I can't imagine paying ANYONE to do this job for me.  I've done it 3x and I won't hesitate to do it again.

I replaced the core and all is well. not as bad as I thought. I ended up replacing hoses at the same time so that is one less thing to worry about. Thanks guys

Sorry guy's, but It's not a funny job, In 2005 I changed My entire heater body (same as core) and hated this a lot, It's probably cauz I have in the past a cars have a heater core less difficult to change, My 1974 Mercuty Marquis was simple a lot, two hoses and 4 or 6 screws and that's all...

When My mothe have his car (My 85 bird) the garage wanted 450$ for the job, and 42$ for the core????????????????? what the joke, it's not a main seal between trans and engine, but I guess the main seal is easy to fix, and fast than the core on that Birds/cougs.

It's probably cauz too for a stupid thing of that on the fox, are difficult to fix it for nothing, anyway, I hate to do it, that's all!!..

I hate the stupid things misplaced, and do entire dash removal for a 40$ core...

Best regards,
