Hi!,

Don't mask with a tape for nothing, when I painted My grille for the first time a couple of years ago, I just masked the large surfaces, and the thin pieces just wiped with a "vaseline" or anything, but grease, after the paint is very dry, just wipe off the "vaseline" or butter or whatever, that's all, It make a nice job, and quickly...

Just a bit of grease, like a saran wrap, not 1/4 inch thick :grinno:

Uh... I wouldn't spend four hours masking that grille.

4 hours??? took me about an hour to do mine, its not that difficult, the vaseline thing sounds cool though, gonna have to try that.

If you're impatient, as I am, you could tape off just the outer section of the grille and do like I did a couple years ago:

I have a set of all-black TC ones left over from my '84 and I think I'll be doing something different before this years CJ.

When I saw "black eyes" I was expecting to see the car with some of those "smoked" sealed beam headlamps...ya know, the ones that look black when they're off.

Hello!,

When I started to work in a mechanic and bodywork in a garage at the age of 13, on sone cheap body job My boss don't pull over any crest on these cars, just wipe a vaseline on that, after the car is very dry, wipe off and clean the car with water ans soap...

On a GOOD job's we remove all crest as well...

I keeped this trick for the jobs like My grill, some mags, and other things like that...
