Getting cam out, remove Ac condensor? November 10, 2006, 03:10:15 PM In my 83 5.0 car, can the cam be removed without pulling or lifting the engine? Or can the cam come out with just the radiator removed? The Ac works and I dont want to touch any of it just to make sure it still works.. Quote Selected

I think the A/C condensor has to come out as well (according to the Haynes repair manual). I've never swapped a cam with an engine in a car but I can't imagine that it's very bloody fun......... I figure I will just do an Ho conversion on it because its not that much more work than just the sefi conversion. I've got the E7 heads, HO upper and lower, Injectors, a wiring harness out of an 86 that is almost a drop in. Stock headers and an H pipe. All I need is a camshaft for a 351, as this motor isn't a roller. A Ho computer (hopefully for a 5 speed ) and a catback. Quote Selected

All small block engines except the E6 headed ones have notches in the pistons... Quote Selected
