5 speed swap q's... Sorry...

Hi guys. Just had a quick question for you all. I found a 91 SC in my local yard. It has the 5 speed with the supercharged v6 of coarse. Can I use the parts to swap the auto out of my 88 bird? This is the closest I have come so far to finding something to work so please help me out guys...

Thanks,
Glen

That trans is not a T5, it's a Mazda unit IIRC.

I think I remember someone here selling an AOD from a SC and said it would fit a 5.0, so maybe the 5 speed would fit also, I know this dosen't really help you 'cuz it's not certain, but try a search. (if you already haven't). Anywho, here is the link to what I was sayin, hope it helps http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=21084

Ok. Thanks guys. I just found out that it was a mazda unit. Did the whole wilkepedia thing and read the history. I'll just hold out for now. Even if it did fit, I am going for more than a couple hundred hp in the long run. Don't want to have to do it twice. lol

Aod's have remote shifters. The mazda tranny is alot longer then a t-5.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

I would grab all the 5speed swap stuff from your yard if its cheap and sell it to the sc crowd, not many sc's came with manual. You should get enough cash to buy a complete t-5 setup that would work on your tbird

Don't bother yourself with apologizing.  Its a good question, if anyone gives you  about it tell them to arf it.

This is sound advice, if you think its hard finding T-5 swap stuff try swapping an M5ROD (or whatever that thing is called) into an MN-12 on the cheap.  You could easily turn a buck.
