Go to a parts store, they sell a tool that makes it easy to remove.  Some of them are angled rachet wrenches and some of them are small knurled round things.  The screw type is usually a small Torx head or a very small hex head.  Make sure you put white thermal grease on the back of it.

Um I dont know about your 87 V6, but that wont work on my 88. Maybe the 87's still had the module on the distributer?

Yes, the 87's have the module on the distributor. Yours has a remote mount.
It's Gumby's fault.

I run a Holley Annilliator TFI with a Crane PS92 coil in my Bird.. Are they any better than stock??? Not that I can tell... At least hopefully its a better quality than the Chinese replacements.

The screw that holds the module is a 7/32"(maybe it's metric, but my 7/32 Snap-On deep socket fits perfectly). As others mentioned the auto supplys sell a special tool just for this job. Likely the distributor will have to be loosened and turned a bit for acess. Means it should be retimed with a light.

The Metric equivalent is 5.5mm if i remember correctly.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.
